I think ffxi feels dead AF. Weeks of silence and people act like it's a hassle to talk to anyone, noone teams up, people log in for 30 mins a day then log off. (I don't blame them.) INB4 someone tells me to play another game. No, I like the game I just miss it feeling like its a multiplayer game and not a single player game, and multiboxing isnt the answer.
I'm sorry. :( Something to look forward to though!
It actually worked out fairly well. My mom's cooking is often really heavy, and having two meals in a row like that usually puts me in a food coma for a week. This let the first meal settle and then now I'm doing pretty good even after the second.

That's you. There's several hours of group content weekly or bi, and more daily. You not being able to make friends is on you. Even my toxic *** has friends.
will never happen, I'm just hoping they add more carrots to dangle in front of players or else the population will continue to stagnate and eventually roll off
I'm sorry but continue to stagnate? Eventually roll off?
It done stagnated. How many servers now?
It all ready rolled off. How many players run only one account anymore? Face it, for every 400 active characters there are no more than 150 players now.
FFXI doesn't need more content, it needs recognition. It's the final bastion of the pre-WoW era, and it does a damn fine job of being everything that WoW isn't.
Except being the social experience it was, and Everquest was, ever so long ago.

Go play other mmorpgs, they are all the same.
You see people around, they don't want anything to do with you.

Sorry. Truly sorry.
It could be, though. Just too many people have no idea what they're missing. And Square-Enix won't even spend negative amounts of money to advertise it.
I need only pull from any of the conversations I'd had with my XIV-thumping acquaintances to know that the ignorance is very real. If people just knew that FFXI was still alive and kicking, it might still be a respectable size.
Will FFXI ever pull the numbers XIV does? Absolutely not. But if people knew it was an alternative, and not just an antiquated wannabe, it could still maintain a population. God forbid FFXI ever get a proper free trial and some marketing to inject some life into it.

Still hoping to get Rune Fencer or Mystic Knight as the next tank in XIV. Tanking is my primary role, I started my XI career tanking and even tried pigeonholing BLU into tanking (with varying levels of success depending on Era). A lot of the time the tank also controls the pace, ebb, and flow of battle, though that's less pronounced in XI. I admit it feels far more satisfying to tank in more modern games where the enmity/threat system isn't tattered and in shambles. Really hoping for another rebalance there in XI at some point.
Modern games being 14? They never lose hate, theres no enmity management to speak of outside of tank swapping. I think tank mechanics in XI have come a long way, they are still wonky but you still need to maintain your enmity or find ways to shed it.
I never really liked it to be honest, breath of the wild. OoT and MM are so much better, like way better. I always wonder if its just a generational thing or are peoples tastes just bad overall. Maybe some boomers are out there wondering how could these kids not like x singer they loved growing up, maybe that will just become me lol.

I'm under the impression that modern open world games generally gets an advantage when it comes to popularity.
Also N64 wasn't a popular console back then. Switch is THE most popular console this generation. So there are probably way more people played Breath of the Wild.
Well, as someone who still have to catch up with Zeldas game from Gamecube era and above, just looking the Breath of the Wild is just… breathtaking.
Still there is so much to get out of the way, still it seems to be nice playing the Twilight Princess and Skyward Swords after watching small gameplays of it while waiting till the Windwaker port to Switch, hopefully this year, and hopefully some other 3DS port for it too.
Sadly, this year i had basically no time at all for most playing, and just got worse after midyear. Too much catching up to the work and IT career, studying from 4am, then working till 6pm when i can briefly rest a bit watching some youtube videos till sleeptime.
We will see in 2022. The best is always yet to come
I've played all Zelda games heavily and I can see why BotW is #1. OOT was not bad at all. MM is at the bottom of my list (yes, under Adventure of Link). It's all about polls and revenue. Of all the Zelda games, BotW is one I absolutely feel I got my money worth out of. A normal person playing for the first time isn't going to beat it in a day.
Now, it's fine to question a poll's accuracy. This one rates Pokemon Diamond/Pearl higher than Heartgold/Soulsilver. HGSS are rated the highest on any other poll. And I know this as I moderate the Pokemon sub.

There's a massive difference between a critical assessment and a popularity contest. Younger generations get progressively more and more access to games, and the populations increase. Whenever a new Final Fantasy comes out, that game's protagonist is top voted, no matter the quality of the character or the game they represent.
pro-tip. drop the big bomb in the eiffel tower, and it'll crash over the city, and you can drive on the roofs of buildings. then you can jump into the museum.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
