Fun fact: the Nazis invaded Russia in July and Napoleon invaded Russia in June. But both famous blunders happened because Russia strategically held them off for months until counterattacking in winter time.
The real failure was not properly maintaining supply lines because they thought they'd be travelling along smooth roads. Instead, Russia's roads are so pathetic, they just couldn't get proper equipment to the front. Kinda a let down for supposelly best strategists from their time

Something I heard almost 20 years ago now and still has stuck with me: Stalin didn't defeat Hitler- the Russian Winter did. U.S.A., 1926: "We're going to construct a colossal system of quality roads so if we ever have to move military equipment it'll be a breeze!"
U.S.S.R., 1940: "We're never even going to maintain our roads because it slows down all the idiots who try to invade us, LOL!" Bismarck.Josiahflaming

I’m so excited for the November Metroid dread 3D 2d platformer Nintendo announced, feels like it’s been a lifetime since Metroid fusion and had given up on the genre
That feel when there are more people watching crinja play wings than there are humans logged into retail across all servers.

That feel when you care about things like how many humans stare at someone else instead of just thriving and enjoying life
It's interesting
I mean... I guess at least they aren't watching indifoxx fart into a microphone... but it's really not any better. My laptop stopped turning on after 3 years. I need a new one because I don't have patience to figure out why. Whats the best ones these days? 17 inch !
Indeed I always expect my newest machine to last over 5 years but all of them started to run in problems after around 3...
Most of them I just formated it and reinstalled the windows. Then gave them to parents, what always enjoy. I guess when you have a PC/notebook for long time, all the constant updates and random junk installing ends deteriorating the system. Then sooner or later that much junk will reduce your performance. No wonder in production people want to move on from hosting physical system and just send a container. Managing an operational system is just a waste of resources in the end. I kept it on 24/7, so I guess it had something to do with that. I tried changing the battery for the exact same one and it still won't turn on. Have tried all the random tricks on youtube and nothing, I don't care to try further. I'm sure most of those shops would charge me a ton in NYC, so I guess I should just get a new one.
my msi laptops have always run for years. i have one that still runs well and it 7 years old. if the gpu wasn't so basic on it. the only one i had go out on me was a razer blade and it went out onece the first year, and then again after 2 1/2 years from original purchase.
So the Florida building;
Quote: Engineers noted design flaws and failing waterproofing that would lead to "exponential damage" Minimal effort for maximum profit. Shocked I tell ya, absolutely shocked. Heat kills silicon chips. Whatever you get use a decent laptop cooler.
Shutting it down overnight can't hurt. Let's take a moment to look up the "Swift Belt" on here and check out the only image for it. Clever girl.

Shocked I tell ya, absolutely shocked. The bigger the catastrophe, more causes contributed to it. Its the multicausal nature of tragedies. Maybe there were design flaws, but then probably there were materials flaws, constructions flaw, maintenance flaws, inspection (both internal and external) flaws, etc. Maybe motivated for cost reduction, but its pretty likely not the cost per se, but some rushed parts to delivery according some schedule. Or lack of competence from managers to handle such construction. Or lack of competence from directors when making bad decisions. You can aim for max profit. But that dont justify doing it poorly. |
