The 1% glimmer of hope in me stems from their recent use of Ivalice characters for tie-in games and them testing the waters with other tactical RPG's lately - including a mobile game and Project Triangle.

Also they should've just not done an English stream. Lots of people were pissed that DQX ver6 was shown there, only to have "there are no plans for a worldwide release" to be put up on screen after the trailer had finished. And they cheaped out and only had a single translator speaking for both people on stream, and she was clearly struggling to keep up at times.
Same. Bought XI "definitive edition" on Steam, and then they put out XI S and didn't even offer any discounts to upgrade. Not falling for that ***again.

But the fans want it so why not? I personally love remakes, Re2/3 and FF7r were tons of fun for me. According to sales they are far from wastes of resources. They are already working on FF16.. some fans are just hard to please whatever they do.

I saw something a while ago with people saying they'd rather see live-action remakes of movies that weren't great but had a lot of potential. Aladdin doesn't need a live-action remake, but something like Atlantis or Treasure Planet could be awesome.
Same for video games. I'd love to see games like Brutal Legend or, I dunno, Sonic '06 or something.
