I like this guy's vids.
The firing of George Fan was apparently blown out of proportion a bit. He didn't want to make freemium games but he was more or less let go as a part of a larger batch of layoffs after a change in policy that mandated freemium features within games in the studio he worked at; he no longer really fit into the studio and its vision so he was let go with various others from what I've seen.
Additionally, he seemed to have grown bored with PvZ and was working on another game that never made it to release when he was fired.
