Sweden isn't as small as you think. Sure, it's nowhere near the size of the US or Canada but it's not that tiny. Your companies have tons of money and they charge more than in other developed countries. It's not an excuse.

to add on to what jet's saying. you can't just think of it as, "they have money!". it's more a thing of how do you roll out new technology on that scale. by the time it can be implemented en masse the technology is already being replaced. thankfully fiber has the ability to expand with time like 4g does, so we should see a huge spread in availability of high quality services. however, people who live 50 miles in the woods will still have to rely on shitty satellite internet.

My experience is that as long as you don't lose calls, dial up will beat the pants off of satellite for gaming purposes. Dial up isn't any good for streaming movies, but it will support an MMO without much latency.
Satellite will d/c you every 10 minutes.
