Nothing immoral >.>
Morality is subjective.

Only to a degree.

At some point the morality stops being subjective and it becomes an assessment of the degree of deviation from standard human neurochemistry of the person who subjectively finds morality to be very skewed from what's generally considered acceptable.

Assuming we're using generally-agreed-upon definitions of "morality" and "subjective."

But as I suspect this was not the direction you were looking to go with this, I'll let it go!

Manga and anime: Japan still treating children as sexual objects

Quote:
The sale of pornographic materials is rampant in Japan. Go into any convenience store and you will find mainstream pornographic magazines sold alongside consumer publications; while a "for adults only" sign demarcates the violent, hardcore porn magazines. But it isn't only adults whose bodies are on display: Underaged girls are routinely portrayed in suggestive ways - from teen pop groups posing in lingerie or pubescent children engaging in sexual acts in manga comic books.

In June, Japan banned the possession of child pornography after decades of criticism by local and international children's rights activists. However, the ban did not extend to manga or anime films - which still raises troubling questions about the state of child protection, as well as the reasons for the country's lax attitude towards children being viewed as sexual objects.

Yet even the briefest glance at teh intarwebz reveals plenty of anime fans worldwide and crossover of these topics is nigh certain.

It's because they are all sexually repressed and when that happens you turn to anime. Anime is a gateway drug to pedophilia !

Adjusted for the era it's a bit less terrible, but her age -- even in a modern context -- is on the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the terrible ***in that particular play.

Still not sure how it's remained one of his most enduring.

While I find repulsive the loli/shota hentai I do not think they should be banned. Not any more than many other works of fiction that depict similarly despicable acts or worse.

Human child pornography of course is another thing entirely.

Ramy, I suggest you pick up the Game of Thrones books and give those a read. The female cast gets married off between the ages of twelve and fourteen.

Well, again, given the setting and theme, that's to be expected as it's not being discussed in a modern context.

That said, I'm not picking up GoT any time soon. I tried a time or two before the show was a thing and I just couldn't get into it, and I'm to the point where I'm thoroughly tired of the online presence of the show's fans.

Personally I think a lot of the suggestions of causality are problematic. I don't think the works themselves are the problem as much as Japan's uniquely powerful brand of hyper-sexualized-yet-still-super-sexually-repressed society.

That is to say, this is a problem worldwide to varying degrees, Japan is just a very visible example of the problem because of their somewhat unique societal factors.

Then again, I'm a hardcore horror/fantasy/mystery nut where books are concerned, and my taste in movies cuts the same way.

Classically, so am I.

I just don't think they're particularly compelling literature. ^^;

Daenerys is married to a grown barbarian at the age of 13 and is raped repeatedly until she eventually develops Stockholm syndrome and becomes obliging.

(not really a spoiler, this is the start of the book really)

Kinda off the topic of hentai and into anime-anime. Great Teacher Onizuka has probably the best example of a milf-focused story arc.

One of the kids has a hot mom and Onizuka takes her out on a date instead of a traditional parent-teacher meeting. Wacky jealous son antics ensue.
