we dont have raptors so they can even turn the handle. also most of em are manually locked from the outside of the exhibit, so unless something alters such exhibit, like a fallen tree or such, they are pretty OOL and dead in there.

Wow really...somehow I suspect this has much less to do with Red Shirt Diaries and more to do with how incredible the crowdfunding on 'Axanar' has gotten no?

That's so terrible...it even targets the actors (who had appeared in previous ST properties) along with requiring the use of official merchandise instead of pro-am props and costumes. :/

Probably didn't help that they were claiming that Axanar was going to somehow rival the movies and bring back "real Trek". With so many former Trek actors taking part, it could easily be misinterpreted as an official work.
Even despite all that, this possibly could've been avoided had Axanar shut down when CBS/Paramount first approached them. Or when they issued the C&D. But no, they had to throw everyone else under the bus by making a big public spectacle out of it.

I see the point business-wise, but from a fan-appreciation-perspective (which is ultimately what this whole thing is about, anyhow no?) I'd like to personally think that good-writing, good-storytelling, homage to source material, and love of the craft of creating a story fans would love to see is what matters most.
Once the lawyers all get involved, however appropriate it might be for them to do, that vision gets lost amid terms of 'unrealised revenue gains' and 'inappropriate use of intellectual property and likeness'.
It's just unfortunate, from my perspective. It would have made a great story, I think (from what I'd seen in 'Prelude to Axanar') if only it could have been realised.
