That's how chips like the General Instruments/Microchip AY-3-8910 (MSX, Mattel Intellivision) and the Texas Instruments SN76496 (Coleco Vision, Master System, Mega Drive) generate sounds:

The primary square wave has it's volume modulated with another square wave. We call that "envelope".

On the AY chip the envelopes can also be triangular.

The trick is make the synthesizer hardware be controllable using a matrix of registers.

I don't know, I mean they look visually appealing, but the leg regions look heavy and bulky to me. I understand they have huge thrusters mounted in the armor, but stuff like that could be a potential target. The mace and the scythe look silly, the gundam hammer wasn't even that effective. The back mounted quad cannons though are hnnngh, I'm a sucker for long range artillery weapons.

I am just messing around right now, rip a cart, load DRAM, load a rom, save and load files. It's kind of interesting, might actually hunt down that homebrew Chrono Trigger:Crimson Echos and just load that rom and try it out.

This is one major advantage of the cart, you can just load up homebrew or translation version of games like Front Mission.

Did I post anything about my DeJap translated Star Ocean cart?
