YouTube Video Placeholder That's how chips like the General Instruments/Microchip AY-3-8910 (MSX, Mattel Intellivision) and the Texas Instruments SN76496 (Coleco Vision, Master System, Mega Drive) generate sounds: The primary square wave has it's volume modulated with another square wave. We call that "envelope". On the AY chip the envelopes can also be triangular. The trick is make the synthesizer hardware be controllable using a matrix of registers. Anyone here excited about cupcakes like I am?
I love it when SEED just goes nuts with mech design.

I am just messing around right now, rip a cart, load DRAM, load a rom, save and load files. It's kind of interesting, might actually hunt down that homebrew Chrono Trigger:Crimson Echos and just load that rom and try it out. This is one major advantage of the cart, you can just load up homebrew or translation version of games like Front Mission. Did I post anything about my DeJap translated Star Ocean cart? |
