XIII series was amazing. Haters gonna hate. :|
It had many great points to it, like mentioned, I thought Caius was fantastic in it.

That wasn't the problem though.

I honestly think it comes down to SE messing with the formula of what makes a Final Fantasy game, a Final Fantasy game, and not any other anime story game.

As someone who grew up with Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy games feel very foreign to me nowadays. Kinda like going from Final Fantasy to Xenosaga, it was the same concept but very different.

Also, Xenosaga was fun, FFXIII isn't. Though I wouldn't mind trying Lightning Returns, I feel I'd regret buying it.

I think some people can just pick up a diff game, and have fun with it just like any other, while others get connected. When they try something "similar", they get put off because of simple small things that just aren't what they like.

I know I'm that way.

Some of my favorite games are offshoots.

Legend of Legaia
Alundra
Shadow Hearts series.
Wild Arms series.

Just as much fun as any FF game, short of maybe 8 or Tactics.

What would you say you liked in those games, that you don't see in others?

That's pretty much what I brought up in the XV thread.

I'm the opposite. If things stay the same too long I get bored of it. The older Final Fantasies has JUST enough change to keep me from feeling it was too repetitive. Going from Materia, to Junctions to Abilities gained via gear and then the Sphere Grid...

And then I played XI and loved it. And I wanted a single player version and XII happened and it was SO different from the previous single player entries!

It was absolutely FANTASTIC learning all the new mechanics of the game! Sure the story got weak towards the end of the game, but it was and still is better than a large majority any game ever. Everyone hates Vaan and Penelo, but I feel they grounded the roster. Everyone else is exotic or extremely important to the world as a whole.

I wont lie, initially I thought XIII was boring because I just auto-battled everything. But then I started noticing little things I could do to improve my play and it suddenly because super fun. And I already loved the characters and the setting. And the music. I was a little annoyed, at first, that the story was mostly told through datalogs. But is that really SO different from the story being told through miss-able item descriptions?

Mostly just rambling. I'm no essay writer.

i cant use any search engine... it says its not secured and i may be being attacked right now for my "information" ._. this legit? other websites work i came here! it just seems to be search engines i tried google bing and ask

*edit* and its dang near impossible to find a post on here from the night before! the 4 year old is a girl and the 3 year old is a boy. then i got 2 more boys that are 2 and 7 months.

yeah they enjoy DBZ and get the jist of it but i dont expect them to remember it all. first thing they watched was coolers revenge on adult swim and they would ask for the "show with the boy with a monkey tail that could fly!" :) and ive never watched lupin on another subject ill check it out next
Sooo got internet explorer to let me through... it was sudden link blocking me cause i went over my 250GB limit that i didnt even know i had? so downloading 279 GB in 5 days was a bas idea i guess, but they said they dont charge you until the 3rd time you go over, so i guess im safe this time lol. Chrome wouldnt let the message through, and IE was weird i had to "allow" it to be displayed.

It's simple things like, heavy metal type'ish music for boss battles. Something so crucial for a Final Fantasy game, and they go with that.

To me, it was just a few unforgivable decisions that they made that I can't get over, or forgive I guess.

To those who love it, I'm pretty much jealous I guess >.>

I haven't had a Final Fantasy game I could say I love in 10 years, while the ones who do have got three.

I'd agree if there wasn't a song that was extremely well received by most of the fans that is just as heavy if not more so than the XIII-2 boss music.

And even so, the rest of the music in the game is phenomenal.

I guess it depends on where you use it in a game

That and the fact that "crazy chocobo" *** sucks

Crazy Chocobo is hilarious and literally plays one time briefly unless you choose otherwise.

I honestly can say I don't like the song you linked.

I'm also known for showing my distaste for FFX too though, so that's just me.

(some of my favorite songs are from FFX, so I'm just dumb)

I haven't played X-2 in forever, but I don't remember her personality changing all the much. Perhaps a bit happier due to Rikku and Brother's influence?

Unless you mean her clothing. But I always figured the long robe/dress thing was a summoner/clergy type deal considering a great deal of Spira's climate is tropical.
