Weren't the total game files, including expansions around 65k?

I get that it could possibly be a little more with the add-ons if you have those.

Last time I checked it was like 50K files.

4 years is a relatively short time, particularly after a tsunami that devastating.

It would pretty much take a miracle to even rebuild half of what was destroyed.

The Japanese are very good at rebuilding. They have been fighting tsunamis and earthquakes ever since they started living on their island. WW2 was also something they had to rebuild from and that isn't so far behind in the past.

And a lot of the fallout from WWII hasn't been rebuilt. It's been left stagnant.

As good at leading innovative technologies and quick building, as Schizm pointed out, it comes down to cost. Even the foreign aid provided, and relief, it still wasn't nearly enough to help everyone who had been displaced. Another aspect is procuring the materials needed, considering whole cities were wiped out, not just bits and pieces.

So magnitude counts for something.

You're also looking at the polar opposite cost of rebuilding.

? :p

On the topic of 'babymetal'--I think it's just a novelty. There are a lot of indie JP metal bands--just none really ever got famous internationally. Getting a big break in the industry (beyond Japan) happens infrequently--for every "Ore Ska Band" that becomes huge overseas, there are so many "Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra" bands that have cult followings but never quite become international. Same could probably be said with bands like Shonen Knife, Pizzicato Five, etc.

I am sure part has to do with promotion (or lack thereof.) I really liked Super Junky Monkey (punk-metal JP band) but sadly they never got a huge following (and their lead singer died...that sort of tragedy kind of ends things prematurely also...) ;_;

I really liked their stuff--was very catchy. :) They also managed to buck the JP pop industry trend of creating bands purely out of good-looking people (with various levels of talent) and actually had musicians in there. :p
