That's sort of what I mean though. To me "Japanophile" implies an infatuation with a culture, thinking it's got superior aspects to your own.
Not making a mountain out of a molehill here. Just saying any infatuation I had with Japanese culture (and I did, in fact, have such feelings at one point in my life) sort of trickled off after a few years of XI.
I mean, I still track down Pocky and wasabi peas sometimes. But now it's more because I just think they're tasty.

I get what you mean Ramyrez. I met some nice JPs a few times though, ones that spoke english and stuff. This one who had the name Stopsign was pretty darned cool. She lost interest in me though, once she found out I was only 14.

All people suck, it doesn't change that you can enjoy some aspects of a culture. I don't like anime because it's Japanese or I think they're somehow superior, I enjoy it because it appeals to me. It has a lot that American based entertainment doesn't, and there's things that American entertainment has that others don't.
A different example: I know some people that adore british humor, and quite honestly while I don't mind it and at times find it lovely, I can't sit there and do a Monty Python marathon, I'd want to stab myself, even though I do enjoy it in doses.

Is it so hard to understand what Ramyrez meant? He idealized the japanese people as a kind of always respectufl, always kind, always cool people, but instead found out they're just like everyone else.
