I disagree. But then again even the concept of class is different here from the US.
It will vary from class to class but tests do support it. It's often easier to relate to fellow students and the students have more common ground to play off of in terms of how to explain things in a way the others will understand. But you're right that it can go horribly wrong if students have friction for one reason or another. In all actuality, or at least in personal experience it's not used as often as it can be in the US, partially do to our tendency to take individualistic approaches.

Hmmm, would a DRG be able to share exp with their wyvern without Empathy merited at all? Also, is it necessary to have killed something and gained exp/lp/cp in order to "share" it with your wyvern?

pretty sure it's linked entirely to empathy, so you need at least 1 empathy merit to give xp. not really sharing xp, just giving it.

Gotcha. Alone it's just HP, but with empathy it goes into care bear share mode.

At least in us grades have the incentive of mattering for college applications..over here whether you graduate with 60(minimum) or 100 *** laude it has no impact on anything.

My nephew....

Dumb as a box of rocks or at least acts like it.
Can't play Left 4 Dead above Easy.
Can't pronounce Stairs correctly.
Took a year to get past the first gym town in Pokemon White.

When I bought him his 3DS I promised him if he beat the games I gave him (Mario 3D Land / Star Fox 64) I would buy him a new game. This was a year ago.

Today he tells me, "I beat the games! So when are we going to get me my new game?!"

....

I'm now out 40 bucks on October 3rd...
