All I know is they code the one with lua, that's about it. Well that and plugins are easier to unload/load from what I have seen.

Yeah, from what I can gather so far, addons are intrinsic to the initial loading of the windower, and cannot be unloaded within the game. Plugins however appear to be load and unloadable with command perimeters usable within the game's chat box.

Yeah, I need to go change what I have loading, as I think I have more plugins than addons being loaded.

edit: I should also setup gearswap, but I'm really really lazy. I think I'll do it sometime after next weekend, as I'll have to cut off the game for a bit anyway.
