Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?

I ... actually that has me thinking of the last time I bought a PC game... it's been awhile lol, most of my recent purchases have been console or handheld... so that might be why :p I think the last few PC games I got were during the steam sale :p Since XI I have enjoyed very few games. I end up being very picky about a game, very harsh and criticizing towards it, very unforgiving if it faults. I'm the same towards any entertainment really.
I can't enjoy something just to enjoy it, if I find fault in something, and I usually will, then that one little fault spreads like poison and ruins everything for me >_> Shiva.Spathaian said: » I've come to notice my experience with MMOs has dulled my enjoyment for games... Not so much that I hate games but more I need the "social interaction" and quite possibly the mindless grind/goal reaching to keep myself occupied. This. While I'll agree with the free part. It's only as fast as your internet connection, which for some isn't always that fast.

One M8 + this thing = instant classic games VC. Can play all the way up to PSP/PS1/N64 with little stuttering. Lemme know how well that thing works... I could probably get it to work with my Nexus 5 and nostalgia out on old RPGs. Kalila said: » Since XI I have enjoyed very few games. I enjoy it because I enjoy it. There is no method to my madness. Kalila said: » Since XI I have enjoyed very few games. The system it's built upon is fantastic, it's rich, deep, and full of potential, and it took 8~10 years for me to finally say, "I really don't like this game anymore, and I'm not going to let myself play it any longer." I just fizzled out and did the on and off with it after WotG. Just lump me with the "Abyssea ruined it" crowd I guess. Came back for SoA and it was just such a different game from what I left I didn't even given it much of a chance. With new gear coming out every month, I couldn't set a goal because by the time I'd acquire a full set of said gear, there would be a new set that's even powerful awaiting for me to try again. It was the neverending gotta get the best crap gear over and over and over and over..... To feel them virtual anime titties, awww yissss

It's happen twice now, first Turn 4 feet, now Turn 7 mask. There always has to be that one piece of gear that never drops for you and that really ruined the game for me. I can't wait for something other than coil, I need content for XIV. Sounds like you should be playing ffxi then. However, there isn't much of a community unless you have a bunch of close friends that play when you play. FFXI, imo, has turned into a solo friendly game by far. Not many things require a full alliance anymore.
I guess I liked the grind from FFXI. I remember when getting the best was a big deal and having 2nd/3rd/AH tier gear wasn't a huge deal. It just gave that sense of accomplishment when you finally got "that" item.
While I enjoyed Sky/Sea days, Salvage hit the sweet spot for me. Hard enough to require skill, planning, and tactics, but didn't require the force of 18 people. The gear was worth the grind and you could plan it so everyone got their shot at a reward fairly without some DKP system. Plus that 6~8 man group gave a nice sense of intimacy and really turned people from LS mates to true friends for me. I prefer a work towards goal grind, not a random chance grind, and that's all that anyone seems to do anymore.
I want to be able to stand up against a goal, and know what I need to do to complete it. I hate being unsure if I ever will complete it, and it's being done to artificially extend the length of the content's lifespan. -50 DKP YOU SON OF A SHEPARD

Even after you got the 35 to finally drop, there was a whole other grind just to get the money/items to upgrade it to boot. I noped out before Delve and such so never actually did it, but the "get points towards the ***even if you didn't get the insta-drop" did sounds nice to me. |
