School starts in a week... Sadly I will not be going. This has been very difficult for me but I am checking myself into rehab. I know that once you hit rock bottom you can only go up. I hope I can turn everything around and better myself. The past 24 hours have been so difficult for me and words cannot fully express how I feel. Please keep me in your thoughts. I hope I can impact everyone here as much as you all have impacted me after I have turned myself around.

I wonder if these kind of sentiments you are having will ever pass. I know for most of my teachers in highschool they never did go away and always had that kind of outlook.

I have some students who don't give a *** about anything, and all I can think about is how I can help them change that.

EDIT: Should also add, none of us really got in trouble, the dean just shook her head and told us to wait for the bell and go to our next class, saying that the teacher "must be on a war-path again."

I have some students who don't give a *** about anything, and all I can think about is how I can help them change that.
It's a grim reality, but chances are they never will legitimately care and may not even be there by the end of the year. You can't "give" grades, but you can find incentive to make them earn them even if they are just passing. Case-by-case deal though, different for everyone.
Sauce: I was an apathetic student and also worked in the dean's office once I didn't need to stay the entire day due to my credit count.
I'm not going to use incentives to con kids into learning in my class like extra credit or candy or whatever. My strategy is to be honest and open with these kids, applying real world application to the stuff I'm teaching them. If they can't find it in themselves to care about the world around them, then that's on them. It's a damn shame, but I can't make those horses drink.
