Did they change it? I seem to remember it being pretty much just cast and catch. I think I only took it to 12ish IIRC though. Maybe more/better abilities later? :x
It is just cast and catch. But I've been doing it for like, 14 hours straight more or less.

This is going to be a dumb question, but what are some generalized gear sets I should have ready for each class?
I know melee classes will generally have a TP, idle, WS and JA setup depending on what is used, but what else should be looked into? MDEF? Evasion? -PDT?

Pretty much. On top of them being really rare and maybe needing to be mooched (up to a triple mooch) and in certain weathers and them still being able to get away with capped stats.
It's basically spinning the RNG wheel over and over and you can't stop.
