They all are, can still enjoy different ones for different reasons.
Personally I enjoyed more Digimon episodes than Pokemon ones.

I'm a bit old to appreciate anything mentioned there except Voltron. Loved Voltron as a kid.
Pokemon seemed kinda neat when it first came out, but it was just too...cutesy. Not enough violence. If the cute things had been actually killing each other, I'd have been more into it.

And the original Digimon movie has Greymon stabbing it's horn through Parrotmon's beak after blasting off one of it's wings. While other materials still have Digimon killing each other, I don't remember any fights being quite as brutal as that one.
Yeah, I seemed to recall a harsher side of Pokemon at some point, but I figured they'd just water it down for kids in the States.
Edit: You have to remember it was like 1997 and I was a 15 y/o in rural Pennsylvania. There really wasn't a readily available way of getting your hands on manga or Anime in general.

Well yeah. That's like Masters of the Universe was originally designed, if I recall correctly, as a line of toys to accompany the Conan movie(s). However, it was decided Conan was too violent for children, so they painted them up in some brighter colors and made the cartoon to go with the toys.

I don't recommend shouting as a thief, as the guards will be alerted of your presence, and will try to arrest you or kill you.
