Not really, there's a good number of differences between Ubuntu and Debian from what I've read.
I've used Debian a good bit and from what I've been able to tell so far: there's not a lot of great documentation for things, or what there is assumes you know a lot.
Even harder when you do things like go to install vmware workstation and it goes through some of the prereqs, but then fails to build, and won't explain as to why...

I am not defending Ubuntu, just the Linux community and their forums seems to be pretty active as well as their following. There's usually an answer to a problem on their forum or all the docs people made for each version.
As far as VMWare, it is what it is. There's better software out there, just depending on what you are comfortable using. I personally just roll my eyes when VMWare doesn't work.
There's newer versions but with Ubuntu going through a rebuild every 6 months unless LTS version, usually they will keep updating problems and there's usually alot of updates available for it.
To the bold: I haven't seen it, I honestly have never had a problem with it short of getting it to install properly in Debian, and I'd say it's more of a problem with debian than with the package.
I would typically only recommend Ubuntu for noobs, but I guess it may be more suited for me, I'd have to use a different DE though, the default is horrible looking.

Why are they still making X-men movies that don't follow up with the Dark Phoenix teaser when Jean Grey died at the end of the first movie in 2000? :(

They were trying too hard to stuff so much into one movie. The dialogue was trite and contrived and in many ways, cliche. The movie was very predictable pretty much from beginning to end (and maybe that's what comic book fans are looking for), and it just seems like Garfield's plan of action was to look doe-eyed and on the brink of tears throughout the whole thing. The characters were one dimensional and it seemed like the writers were trying so hard to squeeze tears out of their audience that they forgot about things like plot and character development.
I mean, this was like bush-league B-movie type stuff, here.

Speaking of X-men, to anyone who plans on watching Spiderman, do yourself a favor and take off during the credits. Instead of a little aftertaste like Marvel movies typically do, they just show a brief snippet of the new X-men movie, instead. It's very blah.
