I'm actually ok with the re-make. I think I would have lost my mind if they tried to do a canon redo and recast Ashley. You really can't have anyone else play that part, and I'm not sure you can do a "large budget campy horror movie". Not pictured: the 2(?) roegadyn in the shell freezing outside in the snow
Well didn't expect this
YouTube Video Placeholder The game was kinda short for my liking but I kinda thought it would work well as a movie so will be interesting to see how it turns out. I went and scarred CCL for life.
So there I was, sitting there minding my own business (mostly) and soldering wires into boards, just bebopping along! When CCL mentions that she hates anime because it's the "lazy man's" way of making a show. Then she asked me if Monsters, Inc. was an anime. And I was all OH NO YOU DIDN'T! If you want to hate anime for it being anime, fine whatever. But if you hate anime without knowing what anime even is, we are going to have problems, ma'am! So I parked her bum down in her chair, grabbed my headphones, took my phone to rwby red's trailer, and said "Watch it!" And she gets partway through and whimpers "Oh it's so violent!" And I go "WATCH THE WHOLE THING!" And at the end she goes "Oh those poor little wolves, they were just hungry!" So I told her I was going to bring her home someday and make her watch anime until she figured out what made it different from Monsters, Inc. I don't think she'll ever recover from watching Ruby massacre a wolf herd. >.> Some people's cat ladies, I swear. "I hate anime, by the way what's anime." <.< I swear! Next time it will be Samurai Champloo and you'll watch them massacre people, not wolves! Bah humbug! Technically anime is just their word for cartoon/animation (both hand-drawn and computer animation), anything animated is an anime there. It's we who use it for anything from Japan.

It's the same with the terms shounen/seinen/shoujo/josei etc, they don't have anything to do with the content, just which magazine they're published in and the demographic they're aiming for. That's why you get such a huge variety of seinen manga for example.
I remember watching Robotech when I was like 6. I grew up liking that stuff and THOUGHT i knew a lot about anime (lol).
That being said, I have NO IDEA what you just said. *edit* the realization that I knew nothing about anime came ~14-15 years ago when they opened an anime/skateboard shop near me. In the west people use those terms to describe content in manga. In Japan it's just which magazine it's published in and the demographic they want to attract. There are common elements in most shounen manga but it's not a requirement for it to be a shounen manga. For example Bleach/Naruto/One Piece and even Shingeki no Kyojin (which has people being eaten) are shounen mangas while Onepunch-Man is Seinen. The only difference is the magazine they're published in.
Shounen is for guys 13 and up and Seinen is 18-30 or even older. Shoujo and Josei are just the female versions. I'm quite partial to yuri, myself.

I had assumed when someone said "it's a typical shounen", they meant "it's a typical shonen(jump)" ie chi/ki/spiritualpressure/chakra, and bland overly predictably characters and storylines. I can also tell you a lot more about the categories once sex becomes involved :/ go figure. |
