so I got a hand me down tackle box today (I didn't have one lol...) was going through it and found this... I think it's some kind of ... bobber or whatever but I'm not sure how it works, or how to use it :| It's a hell of a lot nicer then what I have on my line right now, so if I can figure it out... I wanna use it!

You pull the line through it and put the pin in (red part is the top) and move it up/down on the line depending on the depth of the water

looking closer I see where I put the line in (It's under the springs at the top) it's all one piece (I can't move anything other hen the springs)
Oh and it's wooden :x

See the spring coil at the end? Pull it down toward the end of the bobber (the wooden, unpainted side), wrap the fishing line around the end, knot it, then let the spring cover it. It will hold it in place.

essentially that's what I have, i'm hoping to go to a shop sometime this weekend or next weekend to get a few more things (nothing fancy, just some more hooks maybe, a few more decent bobbers that aren't cheap-o freebies that fall off after the first cast lol)
oh ... and I might hear about that job tomorrow :D

Thanks! I'm doing a bit of research and just found the site for the brand of them (or some place that sells them)
among the other things I found in this box, I found a really nice deep sea hook ... thing (it's on a plastic fishy ... two big *** *** hooks) Won't ever use it I bet but ... it's neat! (and ... kinda rusty :| ) a few knifes (all rusted out, had to toss em) uh... and a fish scale (a cheapo broke one lol)
I just need to deep clean this box and toss all my ***in it :p
