Tantra crown+2 7% haste, legs+2 6% haste, hands+2 3% haste, fuma 3% haste, thats 19%, with this gear setup twilight would actually be superior to brown belt lol. Tiger even mentioned before in game he would have to math twilight against even black belt instead of just looking at the haste numbers on both pieces and being able to give a definitve answer straight away. Kinda pointless as I doubt anyone has this gear variation and not own tantra feet+1/+2 when he owns head/legs/hands+2.

If I did'nt have Black belt, I think I'd gear myself to use twilight :P

Wow, reading this thread has given me some insight. I'll be perfectly honest; my mnk is only lvl 23. I've been thinking about leveling it, but more for fun and to add some variety to my jobs, maybe have something a little more useful in Abyssea than my two mains; rdm and drk(yeah, yeah, I know, loldrk). I was thinking about trying to just Abyssea burn it, and YES, get my skills up on my own time. Not as a full-time, main mnk, but just something else to add to my (lacking) arsenal. Who knows, if I enjoy it enough it could easily become my main.

But holy ***. If it means I'm going to get checked, scanned, SS'ed, and posted on a forum if I don't IMMEDIATELY have the highest, top-end gear, even for just a side job, then forget it. You elitist snobs can keep your damn job.

With the availability of XP these days, not everyone is maining jobs like they were. Maybe you're mad because you really did put in the time and effort, did the research, did the quests, and made your mnks into highly effective jobs, and someone else can come along and do everything you did in a week. Understandably, but get off your high-horse; it's a video game. Obviously you're not going to invite a gimp Abyssea-burned mnk to any of your events, and that's completely understandable. On the other side of the fence, maybe someone doesn't want to subject themselves to your uncalled for ridicule and elitism. That attitude drives people away from the game, which is what we don't need right now.

Everybody starts out somewhere. We were all noobs at some point. For all you know, some of these gimp mnks might be in the middle of doing one of the belt quests, and you just caught them taking a break. Unlikely, but possible.

I'm not trying to insult anyone. In fact, I'm telling you what you want to hear. "Oh look, one less potential gimp piece of ***noob mnk." It's threads like this that drive people away from playing some jobs.

Heck, I'd be thrilled if more people wanted to play drk(never gonna happen). You should be happy that so many people have taken an interest in your job, at the very least for the affirmation that you're highly in demand now. You can take comfort in knowing you did the work, did the research, and do your job right. Attacking everyone else because they didn't do the same work you did right away, the very moment they hit 75+, for what might even just be a side-job, isn't helping anyone except feeding your own egos.

The amount of retards that come out just never cease to stop... Nobody is saying you have to have the top of the line gear... just be SMART about your decisions. Some of those mnks posted are just idiots. Swift belt? NQ/af gear over tons of choices they could get for very cheap prices?

I guess it's just me, but if I level a job, I refuse to use it until it's decent.
I leveled my BLU ages ago, I still only use it for soloing/key item farming with a few friends etc, because it's too gimp to be used in real group activities.

Hey, retards happen. Any medium with public entry(like an online game) it's just part of the territory. I'm someone refuses to gear decently, then yeah, they're scrubs. Those examples you mention, yeah, I agree. But freaking out because someone doesn't have a black belt and AF +2 is a bit much.

We never did freak out because someone dont have af+2 or a black belt, just choosing to use swift belt than try to get a brown belt at all, and some equally stupid stuff.

Lemme tell ya, it's no fun on the other side of the spectrum. Be a drk for a while. You'll get lots of quiet time and solo stuff done.

EDIT: Ok, worded badly. I have a lot of fun playing drk, but the only thing I get to contribute to events are scythe/GS procs and stun.

Try being a Paladin. You're not even useful outside Abyssea.

Omfg, totally doing it. Just gotta reactivate Serj and get Verethragna. I'll make my spellcast have me idle while in towns in full pink and headlong, Assault ring, bibiki seashell, NQ amemet, venerer's ring, 2x bone earrings, and spartan cesti.
