Why would I want to get past level 30 on XIV when it's like it is currently? I don't think so Tim.
FFXI was released way back in 2002, MMO's were a new market then and you could release a half assed product because no-one knew any different.
FFXIV was released in 2010 and it probably had a worse release than XI.
It's ONLY now just beginning to have a semblance to a respectable game. Whether you enjoy it or not, this game is a financial and personal bust for SE. And the game is hardly in playable condition right now either.
So yes, until it is, I'll post on the forums and watch the game develop, whilst your shell acts like the game has deep and meaningful endgame.

although i was not aware of ffxi when it came out i don't think it needed to have an indefinite free trial to keep players playing, i doubt it had a huge part of its player base not playing despite it being free, I'm sure it had much more content to start over 14. not saying 11 did not have problems when it started I'm sure it did... and a lot... but people have much higher expectations on a MMO then when 11 was released... as well as more competition as well. who would want to play a beta still (which is what the game is at) rather then play another game that is more finished?
