And it only gets better.
Was surprised they did it on the second episode but then again there is a lot to cover this season.

The Oberyn-Elaria/Tywin-Cersei scene was the best. I expect to say that a lot about the Red Viper of Dorne.
surprised that happened so soon as well, but it does make sense. just think, that's only the beginning.

My co-worker and I just finished watching the latest episode....the ending caused a high five moment only preceded by me yelling "DIE F'er DIE, EAT S--T AND DIE"."
I really hope this "just like the season premiere" satisfaction holds up during the rest of the season :9 cause oh my god this season is like the best thing on television right now for me :<

Valefor.Sehachan said: » Was it Jack Gleeson singing "Rains of Castamere" at the end? Yes. This ep was pathetic. Jaime raping his sister is dumb, it doesn't happen in the books, and its an unnecessary change that has basically butchered Jaime's whole character in the show. I'm watching this show now as if its expensive fanfiction. 5/10 They sure know how to give emphasis to Daenerys' scenes, great final :o
Daario stole the scene from Daenerys if you ask me.
Anyway the lolrape scene makes sense if you ask me. It's still undeniably wretched, but considering Jamie's obsession with Cersi and complete lack of any attachment to his children it wasn't out of character at all. After all, complete turnarounds are so cliche', people don't change, only circumstances do. Shiva.Viciousss said: » This ep was pathetic. The only notable difference is that she kept saying "No" but in the books she wanted the d. You have to remember that this is the turning point for her character. That's as much as I can say without spoilers, I guess. Well even in that scene there was a moment when she jumped on him briefly then returned to protesting.
As a whole I thought the episode was really good in that at the end I felt it was too brief, it didn't feel like an hour had passed. Even though he wasn't exactly true to the description in the books, I miss the old Daario Naharis. He sounded like a Khajiit from Skyrim, then again, so did Jaqen and Syrio.
I do find it offputting when they do a recast of a character that is presented towards the end of a season. 'Cause the next season there is that who the hell is this person moment. Luckily some people keep tabs on it to minimize confusion.
I like this Daario a lot more. That other one was too neat, while Daario is actually very rude and 'manly' so to speak.
Needs more lewd looks towards Daeny though I think when this Daario says "One cannot make love to property." I'll be on board.
I never even noticed Gregor Clegane was recast between 1 and 2. Reputation preceding all else much? Phoenix.Amandarius

They need to stop ruining perfectly good lesbian scenes with man ***.
Fine, but they're being replaced with more dongs.

What are they doing? Some omissions from the book were a good reason to continue reading. Why are they filling in the blanks for viewers?
From Sister Rape to giving away Legendary Weapons in the span of two episodes. Stay Classy Jaime.

I'm not a book snob though, but on some level I sympathize with those who adhere to the written incarnation of the tale. Even if Game of Thrones was demonstrated to be objectively superior in every way A Song of Ice and Fire, the fact that the show predisposes certain images in one's imagination kind of robs you of the magic of "Shared Creation" that a really good book has. Though the show wouldn't be (and isn't) the only source of predisposition, it's certainly the most obvious. It's kind of like the old Beowulf exercise if you're familiar with that. Read Beowulf and draw Grendle. Nobody's looks the same. (inb4 shitty CGI movie) Kinda dull but I appreciate the effort to make the northern storylines more interesting. Hello, Ser Pounce.
Haven't had an episode this dull since Season 2. Bad by Game of Thrones Standards, Amazing by Rest-of-Television standards.
So it looks like 3 bad eps in a row. I was expecting nothing this week based on the screenshots.
Don't know what your criteria is for bad. I thought Oathkeeper (Previous) was really good.
Everyone still just putting too much thought into lolrape I think. |
