Abyssea-Konschtat
The numbers for this zone makes it by far the easiest to farm any lights for.

Mob | Azure | Ruby | Amber

Ley Cloinid | 8 | 8 | 8
Sods Limule | 8 | 8 | 8
Shadow Lizard | 8 | 8 | -
Trotting Sapling | 8 | - | 8
Razorback | 8 | 8 | 8
Hoary Ragwort | 8 | 8 | 8
Ab'Zxomit | 8 | 16 | 8
Highland Rafflesia | 8 | 16 | 8
Shadow Funguar | 8 | 8 | 8
Gunge Slug | 8 | 16 | 8
Licorice | 8 | 8 | 16
Gneiss leech | 8 | 8 | 8
Mesa Wivre | 16 | 8 | 8
Ypotryll | 8 | 16 | 8
Morboling | 16 | 8 | 16
Highland Treant | 8 | 8 | 16
Deep Eye | 8 | 8 | 8
Viridis Wyvern | 8 | 16 | 16
Dybbuk | 8 | 8 | 8
Qaitu | 16 | 16 | 8
Dapifer Imp | 16 | 16 | 8
Tonberry Bedeviler | 16 | 8 | 16
Crypt. Occultist | 16 | 16 | 16

Ephemeral Clionid gives a RANDOM amount of Azure that will always be either 16, 32, 64 or 128.

Ephemeral Limule gives a RANDOM amount of Ruby that will always be either 16, 32, 64 or 128.

Pavan gives a RANDOM amount of Amber that will always be either 16, 32, 64 or 128.

This should help you decide where to get your lights from.

I personally had no clue as to the mob light distribution in abyssea-kon, do you maybe have one for tahrongi as well?

I always thought if you had all your abyssites for light enhancements. 128 Azure, 255 Pearl/Amber was the best way too go? Something about trespassing the 128 mark for buffed lights, made gold chests drop ALOT more when fulled capped Amber and Azure remained at ~128.

well i just go on my blm its killer but i chain pull on my blm and aga them to death cap az first then just Red chest pearl and amber because i had to do it solo but if you have help thats even better

I don't have blm, guess I'll have to find some help. The whm mnk duo I tried we were killing leeches, glowing mobs and the nm summon that roams. I guess maybe ruby farm the lights for my situation.

Funny how I was going to make a topic asking the best way to farm dark rings and here I have two answers lol. Im not sure if I'm suppose to cap my amber or keep it between certain numbers; and I'm sure your supposed to have decent or capped pearl right? And furthermore which mob would be easiest to amber and pearl and job set ups? I tried with whm mnk got 1 ring with -phys dmg 3% that's it and some other aug items.

Pearl capped = many many chests
Azure capped = Many ISL, TE, Cruor and temp items
Ruby capped = Many chests with gold silver and ebon light for capping exp/kill and cruor/kill
Amber capped = many gold chests with mostly temps, key items and normal items. I found with Amber 255 I rarely ever got nq NM trig items just synthesis ones + augmented items and key items.

So yeah if you were serious about this I would keep ruby zero

Sooo your saying don't ruby farm and cap pearl/amber/azure (bc who doesn't like TE)

One thing to note about these farmings for rings or even hairpins is that its all luck.

Some people walk away w/ amazing rings after 1 pull and zero amber, while others live in highlands for days; even weeks and still don't get what they're after.

As my previous post. I found the best method was maximizing your gold chest odds, by continuing to build Amber. Having Amber higher than Azure, so the odds of seeing Gold Chests were more than Azure (and not even). AFAIK, it can only be done w/ enhanced lights Abyssites; and after around 3 trips, around 5 hours per trip I walked away w/ a Refresh hairpin and some killer rings. (-5% MDT and -5% PDT on the same ring w/ some other random nice stat). Got enough rings for my MNK and my fiance's MNK and the hairpin for my mule.

Goodluck.

Abyssea-Tahrongi
By far the worst of the three to farm for, only 3 mob families give Amber light in this zone…..

Mob | Azure | Ruby | Amber

Gully Cloinid | 8 | - | -
Gulch Limule | 8 | - | -
Canyon Eft | 8 | - | -
Lamenter | 8 | - | -
Blood Bat | 8 | - | -
Pachypodium | 8 | - | -
Beholder | 8 | - | -
Canyon Scorpian | 8 | 8 | -
Naul | 8 | 8 | 8
Cluckatrice | 8 | - | -
Caoineag | 8 | - | -
Jaguarandi | 8 | - | -
Hieracosphinx | 8 | 8 | -
Vermes Carnium | 8 | 8 | 8
Bog Body | 8 | 8 | -
Nematocera | 8 | 8 | -
Thalassion | 8 | 8 | 8
Weiderganger | 8 | 8 | -

Ephemeral Clionid gives a RANDOM amount of Azure that will always be either 16, 32, 64 or 128.

Ephemeral Limule gives a RANDOM amount of Ruby that will always be either 16, 32, 64 or 128.

Bhumi gives a RANDOM amount of Amber that will always be either 16, 32, 64 or 128.

I'm guessing those Abyssites would be fortune and destiny?

I'm saying ruby will slow down the process of getting dark rings mathematically. if you can stick to killing mobs that can't ruby or if you avoid ruby killshots it will be beneficial. much easier with a blm on the latter but yeah I know avoiding ruby can slow down killspeed depending on job and mob

Ok, thanks.

More impressive than the ring, the graphics.
Takes forever to load, though.

Right click > view image, imageshack is annoying as hell. Hate it when I post lolpics
It's still better than Tinypic though.

I have a similar problem except it's not that I want it to choose the right ring, it's that I want equip two rings/weapons with the same name (2 Dark Rings, 2 Zoraal Ja Axes, 2 -10% PDT Axes). I don't use spellcast but I do use scripts. In the script I've tried putting a short pause in between ring1 and ring2 but it doesn't work. My solution is:

/console exec JOB/Script.txt (1st item in here)
/wait 1
/equip Slot "2nd Item"

Works ok like that for me. But anything easier that works?

Light distribution is correct, ephemeral mobs is not. I don't know how many times I have to post this, but the light you receive from ephemeral mobs is based on their size. The largest ephemeral mobs will ALWAYS give 128 lights. I'm not sure if this true of the avatars as well (don't know if they vary in size?). Likewise, the smallest will always give 16.

When I was farming wivre hairpins, I went to tonberries, killed ephemeral clionid there + pavan, finished off amber there on the tonberries (they give 16 instead of 8), then farmed pearl off VNMs, then AoE'd wivres BLU/RDM. Got tons of -5/-5 PDT/MDT, but still no -6/-5 or -6/-6 unfortunately.

115+ pearl/255 amber/128 azure is ideal. If you're AoE burning, either disengage or CFH on current target to avoid excess lights.

if the game needs to process other items between processing the rings it usually resolves the problem

So my script would be

ring1
ear1
body
neck
feet
back
hands
ring2
ear2

etc etc
This never seems to work for me. I need to do this AND add a wait timer. wait 0.7 seems to be enough.

Also, i just checked my PDT macros on RDM and my macro starts

/equip Ring1 "Dark Ring"
/equip Ring2 "Dark Ring"

I don't experience any issues whatsoever when equipping.

Same goes for my MND build with Star Rings / Earrings all next to each other and x2.

Dunno why you guys have problems, but i play on 360 and have no windower/spellcast.. obviously

If you CFH you will not get a box from your current target but boxes will drop from the other mobs in your aoe burn.
