It's the tilt of the Earth, over time the direction the poles are pointing change, this is called precession. The same reason Zodiak signs change, is the reason why the Pole Star periodically changes (currently it is Polaris, but a few thousand years ago it was a different star).

It depends on what system you use though. If you use the oldest system and go back to when that system was made, everything would be shifted from what we use/follow today.

It's been awhile since I watched whatever documentary mentioned it, I just remember that due to precession and time that by the old standards, everyone is shifted backwards 1 sign, it still goes by 12 Zodiac signs though.

Anyways, to me this is proof of exactly why the Zodiac have no meaning or bearing on our lives, because nothing is actually set in stone, there are different systems, and everything that's used to line everything up and define everything is in a slow, but constant state of flux.

If this system where real and really could account for anything, you'd expect to be able to mark the positioning of everything on a specific date, come back in 5,000 years on that same date, and see everything lining up exactly the same, come back in another 3,000 years and still find everything exactly where it was both times you marked them before, but that simply isn't the case.

Western zodiac follows a static season based zodiac while the eastern one follows a more dynamic constellation based system which I guess is now reported as having been inaccurate now? I dunno, I don't follow this stuff, just knew I've always been a Gemini (until now?)

That would be correct.. But it's been known not to be 'accurate' (not sure I'd use that word, but can't think of the right one) for a couple thousand years now.

This amazingly all started with a small article in a newspaper, wasn't even a particularly well known one I don't think (it's not like the New York Times or something) just caught on like a wild fire.. So now that's why it's everywhere.
