If You're A Guy, Why Do You Play As A Girl?

But I don't want to be punted by rest of the non-taru community!

Why are people so hung up on their characters? I mean, you're already obviously able to have a mental disconnect from reality when you see dragons and goblins and ***. It's not reality, so it's not like a "hidden desire to be a ***". If you can have the mental prowess to realize that all facets of this pixelated world isn't real, then you can play without ever being 'entrapped' by it.

I noticed this with the people who got married and the thread that was made about them. The news report said something about his character being attractive, and how that furthered her attraction to him. Seriously? If you pick an attractive character, you're dumb enough to think that the person playing it is attractive as well? If you're that dumb, then something's wrong with you. They are pixels. (On a side note, the people who did get married said that the news report pretty much tossed out the real story, and said what they thought was best, so this may have been one of the reporter's fabrications as well.)

I enjoy playing this character(though my original character was male). And it helps weed out the people who are prudes or are stuck on "y u a girl if u a guy???". They're instantly distrusting and want nothing to do with me. Which is nice, since 9/10 of them I wouldn't want to hang out with anyway. But the people who know that it's just a bunch of pixels can realize that it doesn't matter what race or gender I picked for my character, and we can just kill ***and have fun getting things and talking about stuff.

I play as Elvaan F and i'm a guy. PIGTAILS > ALL [STFU] I'm usually Mithra on my screen I just like the tails. But I am not gay nor do I ever say I am a girl. I just prefer female chars on every game possible, I just do. Mainly on FFXI because my first character was a Hume M and yeah.. Subligars were just f***ing gay. If I have to stare at an *** all day on my screens I prefer it to be female TY.

I think the people who go "y u a girl if u a guy" always think that female characters are guys irl. 99% of the time I meet those types of people, they always hit on me at first then after I tell them that I'm a guy, they're like "oshit blacklist"

I don't intend to do it for the free stuff (tho I have been given free stuff before, and I always just keep my mouth shut til after the transaction to tell them I'm a guy, some didn't give a damn. Hey, free stuff.)

It's just a game. I mean, if some of you dumbasses think female characters are female irl (there are no women on the internet people!) then Mithras are really cat girls irl, tarutarus are really short people irl, Galkas are really related to Big Foot, Elvaans are really Legolas irl, and humes really are that damn ugly irl. See how silly that sounds? SO STOP THINKING I'M A FEMALE BEFORE ASKING ME GOD DAMNIT.

i like how mithra looks but i always to everyone who seems to start to hit on me on a game that i am a dude and i act like myself even playing female character >.> i don't need to pretend to be a girl...i am straight from telling the truth from the start

but Yeah is a game....not reality but the only reality is when i talk to other people in the game and i tell them from start i am dude to avoid any weird thoughts since i am not gay...just a videogamer and anime fan to the end XD

P.S. i am male Taru....that i knew he was going to be a melee taru as first jobs at 75(back then)..why? because is fun something small hitting very hard and portrait kind of my personality in real life XD since my friends always picking on me, how easy i get embarrass(;3;), always being cheerful, always bothering people in a good way and etc

when I was making my character, I was going through stats to see which one WHM and other jobs i'd like to play (like DNC) would be best for and at first, I didn't like Tarutaru that much so I picked Mithra. Then I met Shantatto.

I am female player, playing a FEMALE Taru, and i always get called HE.
Have to take hat off at beginning of every pt to show off the ponytail. My first char was a mithra and i stopped playing her because i was tired of uninvited sexual advances. The last straw was when someone 25+years younger than me wanted to get married in game and said "age doesn't matter as long as we are together" O.o He knew i had a husband and he knew i had a child his age..but he went there anyhow.

I do like lookin at male behind, well hume, behind, cause some of the gear is just <grin> nice to look at. (just cause i'm married doesn't mean i can't look)

most of the manthra i know say they play it for the stats. Most of the males i know that play female characters say they like the scenery, a very few will admit to doing it for the free gear. I have one friend who has a mithra that begs gear then outfits all the other characters he has with the good stuff.

He was one guy that kept hitting on me and pestering me on Cerberus cuz I was a Mithra. I constantly told him I'm a guy and he would forget the next day.

I started out playing as a female taru and got alot of unwanted attention. When I remade my character, I decided to go with male instead. Why? Because you won't get perverted guys hitting on you and treated with less respect at times. When I had alot of gil and good items.. guys and girls alike would automatically assume that you *whored* yourself out or received items from some guy just because you were female or that your boyfriend got you everything. No one acknowledges that maybe... just maybe you farmed/got those items yourself. It got really annoying when people become immature and sometimes some might be even jealous and brand you the 'gilwhore' stereotype. People on this game can be very vicious D:

I played as a hume female and a male taru even though I'm a girl irl. I think the reason I played both is because on the outside I might be a hume female but mentally I'm a annoying, squeaky midget boy.

LOL come on Taru is an awesome race <3...especially when i started playing BLM...low HP? that's why PDT-% gear exist for when taking hate XD


not really.....especially bleed every month and asking how i haven't die after so many years of bleeding! joking but yeah i am happy being a dude in real life :3 no offense in anyway and i respect woman a lot...i know especially the discrimination in a lot of stuff against them because the machist*sp guys...it pisses me off when i see guys like that =/

Well when I started playing ffxi many eons ago I did start out as a mithra to "test the waters" of all the races at the time. There was no reason other than that. At the time I kept getting hit on just simply because I was playing a female character. It drove me nuts to no end because I had to tell people I'm a guy. At that point they would either go on about their business or freak out as if this was a drag queen episode of Jerry Springer (yet i did not string anyone along, lol). Eventually I switched over to my trusty Galka character and servers.

Despite this I enjoyed playing a female character. Would I go back and do it again if I had to start over? Yes. I would imagine by now people are smart enough to not be so quick to hit on a computer generated character. Besides this is a game after all so there shouldn't be any compunctions about playing whatever gender one wants to play, at least in my eyes.
