The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Not a problem if you have a semi-recent PC.
Then you have a ***PC.
Even my old quad core Q6600 machine can run MW2 with a consistent 60 fps.
Plus, if you're running enough background applications to slow down your game, you have no one to blame but yourself. "***I'm gonna run Crysis, Modern Warfare and Metro at the same time nig!"
I'll admit it's not the newest ever, but it's also 4 years newer than my Xbox 360, and still runs a lower framerate.
For what it's worth, I could run Crysis at high settings at about 40 FPS, I know there are computers that can run it flawlessly at 60 FPS on ultra high settings, but that also means it's not nearly what would be considered a "bad" computer for 2011, let alone 2009. I really can't ascertain what you could possibly be doing to cause a PC that's 4 years younger than the 360 to perform worse than it. Even when the 360 came out it wasn't amazing hardware-wise. Either you're bottlenecking with one of your components or you're running way too many unnecessary things while playing your games.

I think he uses a laptop. That raises further questions as to the validity of being able to sit on the couch while playing! D:

D: Laptop processors usually have a smaller cache, slower front side bus speed and use considerably less power than their desktop counterparts.
Fair enough, but I have a desktop PC that I use to play most of my games.
Odin.Zicdeh said: Absolutely not. There are many "Lore" References but each Elder Scrolls game is an independent experience with minimal reference to the previous game's story, and each game contains much in-game literature of the lore, so if you like what you read, you can read up about it in-game (How many games effectively implement fictional history lessons?) so not only do you get the context, but the material at the exact same time as almost an unconscious connection. This is one of the reasons I love Mass Effect. They have like a wiki where you can read (listen) about different things mentioned in the game, it's pretty cool. A bit late, but just jumping into the console war a little, The only reason I like playing on my Xbox is cause the 360 controller is really nice as long as you don't need to use the Dpad a lot. It's much more comfortable for long-time gaming than a Keyboard and mouse, at least for me. It's also the No1 Reason why I hate the PS consoles. I prefer the unwieldy Xbox basketball-size controller to the shitty Playstation controllers.
Still, nothing will ever top PC versions of games, if you meet the Recommended specs, it is absolutely a better experience (Controller issues notwithstanding) than any console. If you think otherwise, you're just in denial. I had an amazing PC 6 years ago, same PC now is D+ on a good day and I've put in all the upgrades I can, so there's no pushing it up a little lol. Siren.Enternius said: Worth the bump? I think so. First half is the official Skyrim theme, second half is a taste of the ambient music in the game. As awesome as the theme is, the ambient music got me really pumped for this game for some reason. Aside from Jeremy Soule being one of the more talented composers he has been composing The Elder Scrolls music since Morrowind, which does loads when it comes to direction and interpretation. BGM is one of those things that's often overlooked, but a good score can elevate a game as much as top-tier visual fidelity, especially when combined with great sound design. One of the better examples is Mass Effect 2, with an ambient track that "Pumps up" intelligently during firefights, and wanes back after the action. Odin.Zicdeh said: WANT. Mass Effect 3 and Elder Scrolls V in the same month is going to put me through a lot of boxes of Kleenex.
@1:21 It looks like someone was at least a Former FFXI player, amirite? I always wanted to visit the ruins of Tavnazia at Blueblade Fell, I just didn't think it'd happen in another game.

Assuming... we can dual wield shields, of course. And those dragons better not be Skyrim's version of cliffracers... O-O holy ***. THIS is what a *** rpg is suppose to be! this is already looking to be one of those iconic games that only come like once every 5 years

I'd like to just forget about it until it's released. Having said that, I'm just joking around of course.. I don't actually expect someone to stop doing something on the internet simply because I tell them to. Serj said: CAN'T *** WAIT. HOLY FLAMING *** JESUS ON A POGO STICK! *explodes* I know, I'm trying to go out of my way to not see stuff, but official trailers aren't bad. I'm going to just try to avoid reading stuff like "The first 5 Hours in" or a lot of interviews about the game.
I pretty much ruined Oblivion by knowing everything there is about it 3 months before it was out. I don't intend to make the same mistake again(but probably will). Oh yeah, wasn't really mentioned anywhere easy to find, but the Gameplay trailer is Captured on the Xbox360, not the PC.
Where's my spears BETHESDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?!
Careful not to hype it up too much or you will be disapointed no matter how good it is...
And yes bring back the spears >.> they don't seem to be slowly falling out of rpgs these days which does't make sense since they are one of the most basic weapons right up there with the club lol Spears are currently up in the air, if they're going to actually make it in to Skyrim. My guess is they won't. Battle is trying to have more of a kinetic feel, and for some reason Spears are very hard to effectively translate into that.
"...Spears would be cool, but we're putting all our effort into making the other weapons feel right, if nothing else, the groundwork for spears and polearm weapons will have been laid down for the mod-teams, something that simply was not the case in Oblivion..." |
