Quote: In September last year they married – with the wedding cake featuring their avatars in icing. Why does it seem so hard for people to get it right... Not avatar, not toon... It's a character! Sorry, that ***just bugs me. Pet peeve I guess. Valefor.Slipispsycho said: Quote: In September last year they married – with the wedding cake featuring their avatars in icing. No version is wrong, but avatar is the correct industry standard term. Also, nice story, but surely couldn't be the first? Offline

It's not like me but that literally made me 'aww' irl. Congrats to them, hope they have a fulfilling life together. Aww ^_^
And... I really want to see the cake. Scrolled down the entire article... /disappointed. xD Luz said: I don't want to see the rl pictures of a WoW couple O_O The article said they played FFXI not WoW Valefor.Loffle said: Aww ^_^ And... OMG what a cute story :)
Happy endings do happen for us ladies! yay! ‘One day, when as Andurus he endangered his own character in the game to save me, I felt an incredible bond between us.' I wonder if he would have done the same irl... Offline

I didn't want someone digging up a WoW version of this story with an earlier timestamp. It was a joke -_- Ramuh.Sagittario said: It's great to see these two people chase something that most people would write off as ridiculous and prove that such a thing can happen... but I'm sorry when I read this I lol'd so hard >_>; ‘One day, when as Andurus he endangered his own character in the game to save me, I felt an incredible bond between us.' I wish I only got -exp for doing something stupid irl >.> But yeah, it's nice to see something like this end on a positive note for once despite how pessimistic the article and comments below seemed. In a way it helps people bond on a less superficial level as you grow attached to their personality more so than their appearances since the character is all you have to work with visually. <randomlabguy>:"Horacio, seems like they actually got married."
<Horacio>:"Yes, it appears their virtual life became..." <puts on his dark sun glasses> <Horacio>:"... a reality." yeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh..... this gives hope to hopeless nerds everywhere. Offline

This is a neat story but most people leave the house because they aren't afraid of the world to actually go out and meet someone.
But congrats to them! They both seem a little desperate though, I mean if you read the article it says they spent 5 hours every night gaming together long before they ever met, that's 5 hours ignoring their partners, every night, not to mention going behind said partners backs to meet each other etc. But that's just me being over critical I guess, at least they are happy now.

We met in FFXI, he came to visit a few times, eventually moved in. Now we're married and happily. Always shocks me when people think it can't work out when you meet in a game.

If you did maybe you missed the part that talked about their real life boyfriend and girlfriend that they had left to be with each other. You're not wrong, loyalty is important...but if they were doing this, I figure their significant others weren't paying much attention to them :( I'm not surprised at all about this. I met my roomate from FFXI a few years ago, he moved in from Oregon, down here to San Diego, CA.
Though, the fact that they both had partners while their online relationship was stimulating really bugs me. I don't know why, it just does. Offline

Not to say they didn't expect this to become so public because she has posted about this before today. Just kind of weird to read people judging these people when they are probably aware of this thread already. |
