Hard to say, they're a concluded series and FF in of itself is a series that has no drawn connection aside from lolKH.

But CT & CC are absolutely magnificent.
Cross is a total mindfuck though.

FF obviously.... I said I liked 4 as well, and it was better than 6. This isn't based on graphics, its overall including gameplay/story/character dev.

Xenogears was the best SE game made. Well, tied with Chrono Trigger.

final fantasy X, was the best for me, first ff with voice acting and ground breaking storyline, on top of that is not so linear, full of quests and lots of places to travel on the airship , then ff8 and ff9

I don't think FF4 is a bad game, but I hate what it has done to the JRPGs as a whole. Ever since FF4 pulled off the "WE'RE TRYING TO TELL YOU A STORY BRO" style so well, most games after tried following that model. I simply don't like RPGs that try to tell a story above anything else because they rarely take advantage of the fact that video games are interactive media; they choose to shove a story down your throat instead of letting the player have any input.

I dig FF2 for the fact that it served as a foundation for Square's SaGa series (and Dawn of Souls being badass), and FFT for being an honorary sequel to Tactics Ogre. My favorite FF on it's own would be FF5 though. It was a goofy game with a kick-*** job system that cut through all the embarrassing "serious story" ***.

edit: by "that cut through all the embarrassing "serious story" ***", I mean FF5 generally had less melodramatic scenes that plagues the average JRPG.

FF1- awesome game to play through many times

FF2- never got far enough to really judge the story... gameplay was okay..

FF3- Story was meh... But the sheer amount of jobs had me playing for many many hours

FF4-6 haven't played

FF7- After hearing all the hype, I was disappointed... Great ability system, but the story didn't appeal to me well

FF8- indifferent really

FF9- LOVED the story (I go apeshit nostalgia *** over this game), but the ability system was boring/too easy

FF10- Horribad voice acting + bland story = wtf goodbye $50

FF12- Great story, battle/ability system. I seem to be the only one who enjoyed the Licence board...

Haven't played 13 or 14...
