If FFXIV Fails... What Does That Mean For FFXI?

I'm pretty sure we all agree that if your game is shut down and no longer exists six months from now, it has failed. You can love every aspect of XIV, but if it goes away it's pretty damn hard to argue that it's still successful.

90% sure all that will get fixed, specially the fasts travels by adding airships and chocobo

Well I think the point is those things among others that have since been addressed should've been fixed during beta lol

pretty much . People have told this to SE in the beta forums on the feedback portion of it. The game was released with those bugs. Sooooo I don't see those things getting fixed anytime soon

FFXI had 2.5 years to improve the game from launch until players had an alternative.

FFXIV does not.

Better to have people disappointed by a pushed back release date than disappointed by an incomplete game imo.

Should have pushed back release date but game will still be fine.

Really doubt any future mmo will be a smashing success w/o some completely new or innovative system.

Sadly, after having played FFXI since first release, I quit FFXI about 2~3 months ago. The game was a thick mixture of good and bad times for me personally. I cannot accurately judge either the good or bad to be relatively greater than the sense of accomplishment I gained from enduring the hardships of FFXI as my first MMO experience.

Personally, FFXI died the moment the social aptitude failed to rise higher than the highschoolers with which it seemed to be overly populated. (This is just personal speculation via experience, and is therefore concrete in my mind, so save yourself the wasted time spent flaming me.)

FFXIV has been a neat experience thus far. I started playing originally during Closed Beta. When Open Beta started things seemingly began to resemble a more fluid environment, albeit an environment where frsutration was still commonplace :/

At Collectors Edition launch, the hopes and dreams of many were high expantant. I entered Eorzea collectively under the purposed leadership of Rocs Lock Eden LS (Lindblum). The LS in a whole was an un-orchestrated mass of indiviudality (as it remains to be to this day). Since then I have made many advancements and learned alot about the game. This new-found enlightment has given me hope. Hope that FFXIV can rise-up against its aggressors, namely the still-dazed denizens of its predecessor FFXI.

When I left FFXI (as mentioned above), the mentality was one of anxiety and beligerance towards the potential threat which FFXIV posed.

It is a common mis-nomer that FFXIV is dev'd by the same team as FFXI. (You can tell the obvious difference in design and play IF you have taken time to explore BOTH worlds. If you have not, then there isn't much you can say about this topic now is there? :D)

I will not waste my time arguing both sides of the fence on which game is better, however, regarding the topic of debate I believe that FFXIV has an already established hardcore fanbase anchored in Lindblum server. We are holding steadfast. We are Hidden Power. Our collective understanding is that SE has been progressive in terms of fixing the errors within FFXIV and they have been doing so at a rapid pace. The future is one of hope, regardless of the situation.

Yes the game was released too early. As for the premature release, everything has a reason. SE has been a figurehead in RPG gaming for decades now. Their repetoire vastly outnumbers any other franchise attempting to claim the same statistics.

Respect the giant. Even when it sleeps. You dogs out there who bite the hand that is feeding you... remember your lack of morality when the day comes that you stand empty-handed, still seeking the past endeavors you took for granted. Karma is a circular logic...

Let's hope for the best, FFXI has had its time. It still runs deep with many avid persuants.

FFXIV is deserving of a chance now. Despite the jealousy issues. Despite the fear of termination. Both sides of the fence dwell a family. A family that may have been once unified in location, but now is dispersed and still strong nonethless.

We ARE Final Fantasy players... We ARE the true strength of the MMO and RPG univers. 'nough said.

Dunno what world you're living in... Sure Square has put out some good stuff before, but that doesn't mean I'll sit here sucking their ***. The bit at the end just boggles my mind. "We ARE Final Fantasy players, true strength of the RPG universe"? Games are fun when bored, but sometimes you need to get out and do something, and I'd say you're a prime example of someone who needs to get out of your house.

What does FFXIV have to do with literature? Inner-wisdom? What's going on here? >.<

Ye gods... there was a post in another thread about the attitude that FF players tend to display, and if this doesn't prove it in a single sentence...

The player base is the giant, not Square. They're the dogs who are biting the hands of the customers who have been feeding them. It's a competitive market, SE should be fighting for our attention, not making us feel guilty for not liking their games.

Don't you know about the collective hive mind of Final Fantasy players, man? We have a keen understanding of SE. It's a shame that others know not our inner-wisdom and vast literature. They will run off to (obligatory WoW loathing blanket statement), while we remain strong.

If FFXIV fails and SE start feeling some kind of financial pinch, they just bring up the whole FF7 remake issue and the problem is resolved
