I like the old way of searching for people, this way I can see who's out there; to weed out the Good and Bad reps.

FF14 don't have a function that tells you who is going to AFK for 30 minutes, who is going to fall asleep, who is on your blacklist, who job you prefer over others, who is an excellent big nuts don't stop xp maniac you can count on for next 6 hours, etc.
I wish 14 will have a function.
PLAYER A > PARTY > LIFT FLAG
PLAYER B > /sea all 15-20 then pick the one you need
PLAYER B > Party do you need it?
PLAYER B > yes please "invite to join party"

DONE!@##@!(Q&%Q!#@&$%Q@&#Q&%&$#&%!#(%&$#&!#!!!!

FF11 doesn't have half the functions you mentioned either lol. Also if you set up recruitment and someone joins the party you have had a bad experience with you can just boot them when you see them join.

Yeah I agree there need to be a party seek/search function added to the Recruitment system. But fyi you can BList people in 14 also.

You can select what class will see the invite and who does not, you can select the range of what you also need, there's a also a text box so you can describe what your group is doing or plan to do, the only thing that I think it needs is to say is a confirmation button to accept or decline someone who joins the group, but you can still pick what classes you want by filtering them. And ugh no please the most annoying thing on FFXI was people constantly asking you when you were not seeking "Party do you need it?" SPAAAAM, even if you were /anon you would still get spammed, ugh so annoying. The friendlist needs reworking though also the linkshell list, it's way too simplistic, needs confirmation of who adds you or not.

Thanks to FFXIV's failure, my interest in FFXI has been rekindled. What a marketing ploy!

idk why ppl complain about 14 and they prefere 11, you know 11 is an old game and they update it many times within these 8 years.
did u even know how ff11 was in the first year in japan? it was even worse than ff14 and it was unplayable, and after 1 year it comes to NA so for us we think it was good from the first day but it wasn't, give ff14 some time then you can judge it but i i'm sure after 1 year from now it will be a complete game and kick 11 away.

That's my entire issue; SE should have learned from how bad they shot FF11 in the leg from the get-go, but it appears they have learned absolutely nothing.

The game seems plausable, but it probably shouldnt really have been taken out of beta for quite some time yet xD

hmmm? are you high or just trollin around ? you are talking about almost 9years in that field , back @ 2002 it was ok to miss up cause they had no *** idea about making a MMO world...

and back then the competition was limited to few titles... but now in 2010 and after 8 fracking years of Twinking XI they come and lunch something EVEN worst than the release of XI and you think that's ok ?

hell no it's not ok and with the current Market almost everyone will not wait around for FFXIV to get better within one year, most People are sick of the game even after the 30 free day "Gift" already

you like the game fine i wont lie i do like it too even with all this *** up release and i wont judge you for saying that but please don't come around and start saying that it should be fine to accept the game as it is now cause 8 years ago SE screwed in their 1st game and fix that after 1 year

well, you are not forced to play it, your complaining here will not get you anywhere, from my experiance with SE games they always like to make new ideas, either they win or they *** up everything, when it come to MMO then they can fix what they break unlike what they did to FF12 and FF13.
and btw if you think the release should be delayed then why the hell you are playing now? play next year then start compaining that the game sux, i know it's sux now coz 1. alot of things are not ballanced 2. nothing to do except lvlup and crafting.
maybe SE didn't learn anything from XI and maybe they did but here they are trying to make something new like they always did but they about to fail so they are fixing that and they need time

It's a good game no doubt but it needs its' fixes, just like *shockingly* every MMO did when it first came out.

Also what pisses me off is rumors i've been hearing. One being that S-E is gonna make FFXIV free-to-play but have a cash shop. If they do this, I'll be saying "'Targetting casual players' my ***."

they *** up so badly because instead of learning from their mistakes in XI, they chose to try to "reinvent the wheel." it was in some interview i read a while ago, but i don't remember which.

what they did is try to completely scrap everything they did in XI and make an entirely new game, which in some cases worked, and in most cases didn't. the interview then went on to say that they wanted more innovation than anything, and purposely tried to make it different from XI to provide XI players with more "adventure"

So does this mean it was ok for Square to do it back then? And that gives them the right to do it now? If the game is in "unplayable" condition, it shouldn't be on the market. End of story.

I bet you are right about the game being "a complete game" in a year. That is when they SHOULD have released it. That way it would have achieved a proper rating and good reviews. Not left a bad taste in a lot of potential players mouths.

I've played it since July on alpha. I'm still playing it. lol Guess my life must suck, but I like it. It's hard to learn how to play.

People anymore are just being ridiculous, I've read the craziest most hateful reviews of this game and it's just amusing how people have to glob on to an idea of it being "the worst game ever" without having an original opinion on it. I think a lot of the things they tried are very creative.

what i mean is this is SE they did it befor and they r doing it now, and take a look at FFXI now, there are tons of things to do compared to XIV and works better for us, so i'm expecting the same thing for XIV in few months later, i'm not saying XIV is the best game, i'm saying it will be, and if you think it's not the time then leave the game and come back when you feel it's the time.
it's funny to think maybe SE released the game uncomplete so the ppl will start to talk about it all the time and maybe this way it will make the game more popular

I had fun playing it when I was able to, but the only thing I didn't like was the limit on Guildleves and how you have to wait like 30 hours for them to reset.

I think that's prob true. SE did a great job with FFXI.. but it must have sucked on release.. who would want a game with no advanced jobs Crawlers Nest being the hardest dungeon? I mean look at what *didn't* exist in FFXI at launch? It took a while for SE to make it right. It also was ridiculed in the media and the WoW crowd hated FFXI because it didn't tell them what to do. But... the PS2 held it back, it got old and it became pretty much endgame only. I think we are watching this play out again. You know how it ends right? It ends as FFXIV becoming as good (and probably better) then FFXI.

Let's see what happens in Dec.. if it sucks after then maybe I'll give it up.

You should be thanking the gripers for getting you an extra free month of play and, hopefully, a bunch of devs scrambling around trying to fix and update their beta fast enough to keep players playing.

Without players complaining, you would have game companies releasing buggy crap for $100 and calling it a day.

Thing is, there's a difference between relevant gripes and

"FF14 licks donkey dink (^.-)p, if you actually enjoying this game i feel bad for your life.....".

Just so you all get the back story, I played FFXI for 6yearsish (on/off) and i got CE for FFXIV, and played in BETA (thinking it wasn't gonna be BETA ina box when i bought it). I RAN/RUN an LS on Figaro that has 30 members+ (from all over the world). I got R27 GLD and R23 BSM (and many more jobs to R15+), had millions of gil and guess what ....the game still sucks donkey *** ....Just sayin,..... There is NO EXCUSE for a company to release a game that isn't even 30% complete, doesn't have simple sort and search functions, lags at every possible turn, has little to no story line, is dumbed down to "leve quests" which = Kill X and Y here is $$$, and has main story quests even fail hard to the point I am at . I am speaking out for the people that went the extra leg to make this game good and it still is a HUGE waste of my time (and imho yours also)....I won't pay a single penny more till i hear that the game is actually worth logging into from a number of decent sources.

A bunch of us set out to be challenged again or thought even with all the WOWesq aspects to the game that was implemented, it would still hold some value to the people that stuck with SE through FFXI, they say the game is sooo different and you still have Bastok,Windy and Sandy....all races are essentially the same, they then decided to take out the one aspect of FF titles that make a game a "Final Fantasy" edition game Jobs (THM and CON??? WTF, where are the BLM's RDM's,WHM's). This game should have never been release as a FFgame at all and should be called "CRAFT LIFE!- the game for people who don't wanna kill ***!"

I would love to hear about what aspects off FFXIV these people are talking about that they find so fun? Making gear? Guild Leves? the animations for all the cool spells? What? tell me .....and if you answer its fun to play with my friends again then that the only point on which i could agree with you.

In the end i wasted 70$ on CE but am not pissed because it linked me back up with old friends that i rolled with in FFXI and for that one reason i will hold on to my copy in hopes SE can fix this cluster *** of a game, other then that FF14 is probably the worst game i have played all year, so Black-ops and Fallout Vegas will have to do until SE can win back my monthly payments.....what a joke

"On a recent financial earnings call, SquareEnix President Yoichi Wada was hammered by reporters for the slip in SE's stock price and significant reduction in earnings projections due to FFXIV.

Wada acknowledged that the game suffered from large-scale quality control problems at a systematic level, and that the company is engaged in a "desperate battle" to win back the trust of its fans within the next few months.

It was somewhat clear that while the earnings call was supposed to be about all SquareEnix products, the reporters in the room were fixated on XIV's miserable performance and Wada's plans to improve it. In response to media observations that FFXIV is potentially not retaining enough subscribers to be successful, Wada said:

満足してもらえれば、離れた利用者も戻ってくる。逆に(利用者から)『もう無理だ』と思われたらそれ以後はない。信頼回復に尽きる。
"If we can satisfy those users who have left, they'll come back. But if (users) have given up on us, there's no future (for this game.) We'll be unable to regain their trust."

SquareEnix's total sales for the term beginning in September 2010 are down 25% from the year previous. Operating income is down by 71%. Operating profits are down 56%, with net profits down 36%.

Oddly, later in the call, Wada mentioned interest in games with free-to-play models and direct item sales, pointing specifically to DragonQuest and Facebook style viral marketing models, where the direct sale of virtual items makes up 30-40% of gross revenue. It is unclear if he meant this could be a potential business model for XIV as well, touching off quite of bit of rampant speculation."

I think all the relevant gripes were herd by SE as they posted the changes that are going to make to the game by December update. It addresses most the major issues we complained about. They agreed to fix it and gave a an extra free month and i hope we will get another free month in December...so at this point to still bash the game is just HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. They actually did better than ff11 release because it took them about 3 months to fix 14 after shitty release vs 11 who it took a year + to fix after its shitty release. Seems the only people still bashing are just the normal QQ ers and ff11 fan boys who have wrapped their entire existence around a stupid game and are upset there is a new FF like this person below.

Some people have mentioned this before. I too personally would like to see visually (and technically) upgraded version of FFXI instead of FFXIV. I spent many years on FFXI, and still enjoying the content. FFXIV means start over to me. Regarding current game play style status of both games, advancing requires a lot of time which I can only spare for FFXI. I enjoy playing FFXI, I have no issues with that, but adding FFXIV into pot will be too much for me. I want to spare time for other things in my life as well, instead of running long distances just to transfer something between characters. Those minutes add up to hours, to days... which are gone from your life.
The other reason I will not prefer FFXIV over FFXI is, switching to FFXIV would mean throwing away all your hard earned advancements, and all the memories shared with your friends to me.

This is just some sick ***lol Please go outside RL is calling....

I'm not sticking up for anything I don't own shares in SE. I'm just pointing out facts. Facts are the masses spoke Se herd and they are making fixes that will be complete by December and giving away free monthly sub..that is all fact that's all I'm stating. So if the issues the fans complained about are going to be addressed in the next 2 updates what is there still to complain about...that is my point.

I can almost guarantee you that the ***people are complaining about will not be fixed by December. There are inherent problems in the design of the game that will require entire sections of code to be rewritten from the ground up. A simple patch or feature implementation cannot fix this.

The UI lag cannot be patched, it basically has to be completely rewritten. Its based on server side validation. When you bring up your menu and select an option, your client tells SE you selected an option, SE sends back what should be displayed next, you choose something there and send off to SE you chose something, they send back a reply... etc. This all needs to be handled client side.

Another thing that bothers me that no one has really touched is the lack of city quests. Not this Guildleve crap, I'm talking about walking up to a random NPC, talking to them, hearing some story about X and they need you to do Y. These simply do not exist. "But they can be added in an update". Again with the releasing an unfinished game. This is garbage.

Auction house functionality. Before you go on defending market wards, hear this out. They are planning on adding a search feature for the market wards, this I understand. From what was stated about it, this search is going to be on a per ward basis. This means you will still have to visit each and every ward to search for what you want or to see what is there. There are what, 10+ wards per city? How would you like it if FFXI updated its Auction House to be split in to 10 pieces, each in its own zone and you could only look at one part of one auction house a time? This ***is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE and needs to be scrapped.

Basically, if you think the game will be acceptable in December, I'm sorry but I really don't think you have a complete grasp of what has to happen for the game to work at todays standards. I'm personally holding out for the major patch that will be around the PS3 launch time. This is when I think most of the major design flaws will have been touched on. At least, I'm hoping so.

Ok so I guess you just know more than those who created the game since you can guarantee that the ***people are complaining about will not be fixed by December although they said it will...do you think can fly to japan and fix the game for them since you have all this vast knowledge which surpassed the game creators.

If it can all be fixed by December, then the game shouldn't have been released until December. They already *** up, and bad. There's a huge number of people that they lost due to *** up that they will never in a million years get back.

Even if they can fix everything, I won't be playing it. I've had enough bad experiences with it just in the Beta to never want to bother with it again.
