Tesla said: had rested exp nuff said... well done Tesla that's what should be in ffxiv not fagtigue system :D
What's the difference between rest exp system and a fatigue exp system? Let's implement a hypothetical system of each:
Rest Exp:
Hour 1: enhanced exp per kill ('rested' bonus)
Hour 2 and later: normal exp, which can be 0 exp per kill (no 'rested' bonus)
How to regain bonus: log out for a while.
Fatigue Exp:
Hour 1: enhanced exp per kill ('not-fatigued' bonus)
Hour 2 and later: normal exp, which can be 0 exp per kill (no 'not-fatigued' bonus)
How to regain bonus: log out for a while.
They... look the same?!
Specific implementation may differ in each MMORPG, but conceptually both fatigue and rest exp systems seem to do about the same thing--bonus after an offline rest period.

Coming back on the "respect" SE show to players after developpin a MMo in less a year, last news about Blade and soul, now close of 4 years of developpement planned.
wich compagny show more respect to players after this ? hmmm :
Quote: Actually, NCsoft didn't release any new games this year and lost 28 million US dollars in the lawsuit against Richard Garriott, the developer of Ultima Online. As it is developing Guild Wars 2 and other games at present, NCsoft will lose more money.
However, the CFO said, "Without new games, we can still run and maintain our company normally through the revenue from existing games. Blade & Soul is expected to launch the first test in 2012."
Instead of killing monsters to level up, Blade & Soul highlights its background stories. According to Jaeho Lee, Blade & Soul is not developed for players who only focus on grinding monsters to level up. On the contrary, the game is designed to attract players by its rich stories.

Even with the 30 extra "free" days to play, I don't think the game deserves any more of my time. I haven't logged on for about three weeks either. Probably won't again until the December update. I'll decide whether to cancel or not depending on how much they manage to fix and how much content they add.
This isn't 2003. I don't have years of my life to spend waiting for a game to get playable again.

FFXIV score 4/10 or even 1/20, so what?! i rather waste my money on it than putting it on WoW fee or Aion... again this is My personal Feeling about this :)
It matters because it discourages people from trying it out and SE will lose a lot of customers that way. It could potentially ruin it, making them close the servers. If a game gets 1/20, do you really think the more casual players would waste their time trying it?
It's very hard for any mmo to die. Fear not FFXIV is going nowhere. The only mmo I can think of that died was Matrix Online and I hear the problems in that were beyond belief.
FFXIV had to add servers initially..

This list lack lot of games, fantasy star online for example, and it doesnt show mmos in state of death-devellompement but still played...like daoc or ultima..
Mmos can die easily and only fans will make it last long...ff14 cant even do that at this point.

To say that "MMO's don't close down" is to sort of demonstrate a surprising misunderstanding of recent history.
Every large-budget MMO that has launched since the release of WoW has either closed down entirely or gone free to play. Conan, Warhammer, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, APB, etc. (Aion is just about the only one still limping along on a traditional model.) Previously, many large MMO's also failed and closed: Anarchy Online, Asheron's Call, etc.
An MMO can only "long tail" (along the graph linked earlier) if it has 1) recouped all of its development costs and 2) is bringing in more money than it takes to run it. This is significantly more difficult now that MMO development costs are close to 40 times higher than they were back around the time FF11 came out.

I hope ffxiv picks up, I really wanna do something on my summer break.
not sure how AION is still alive rawr they barley even update, that game could be great if NCsoft would update it more often.

Catch-22. You can't update if you're not making enough money to pay for it.

yeah so true but even after launch they had a great player base and they still didn't update, probably why they lost a lot of people, They did fix a little the super lag they had on their NA servers.
NCsoft is a good company with great ideas, they just *** up somehow, always.

I enjoyed Aion a lot, but it was waaaay to PvP focused and sometimes got tired of it and wanted some PvE.
I don't thinking money was a problem for them, given that in Korea the game has a bazzillion of active servers and all clogged up, NA has the same content as Korea atm. But the low content was a turn off for me. I tried Assault of Balaurea and it wasn't bad, but it still was heavily PvP, and very grindy. A lot of the non PvP twink gear was interesting enough... heavily PvP based to obtain, couldn't quest or get it if certain factions din't have control of the fortress etc, so it was pointless. Also confused why the servers are very unbalanced in NA, and when I look on korea charts they are very balanced.
It was basically the NA HQ that pretty much handled it bad and screwed it up. Even the European servers for Aion are more decent and more balanced, and they also have more servers and very active last time I checked anyways.

yeah servers are a mess.
and low content
Beautiful game, it fished a lot of players, so is ffxiv, let's hope ffxiv doesn't end up the same way as Aion.

god forbid that darki ; ; don't even say it, i bought aion as Pre-order and got the chance to play in the beta and also the pre-lunch of the game... and manage to get 3 classes to lv 30 but after that my mind become Numb...
Too much mindless grinding that i actually had to get a bot to level up for me "which was really Epic one" i ended up with high level gatherer and also high level class but then thank god they hammer ban me after 2 weeks :) and yet i never felt happier to be ban from any game like i did in Aion
now i dont know if they change it that much since last time i was on the game but i think people still not been able to fit in the Game and they keep going back to FFXI and WoW
I see FFXIV walking in the same way but only cause it's becoming dullto play without the essential fix which again suppose to be in the release.... but meh SE will be SE

I don't know what type of business strategy S.E. is trying here.
But if I were them I'll do the following:
1. Implement an Auction House
2. Add a delivery box
3. Increase box to 8 spaces per trade.
But since they are working very hard to dissapoint plenty of would be potential subscribers, I think IMO their reverse strategy of keeping me from Cancelling my FF11 and holding on to dear life to FF14 is working.
For the time being they are getting my FF14 $$$ and my FF11 $$$ because I'd like to leave my options open just in case FF14 implodes and i go back full time to FF11.

not sure, updating aion tonight and logging on tomorrow, ill tell you in 2-3 weeks perhaps if i get to 30 if its still mind numbing after 30.
its an ok game i am not too demanding since i am not a hardcore gamer, but yeah i can see how for a more demanding player base it's no good.

NCsoft are one of the best companies out there, I can't wait for Guild Wars 2, I think it's going to save everything.

At least they added some new solo instances for low level, increased exp gain rate, etc

Lucky for us Guild Wars 2 isn't touched or developed by NCsoft but by a american company.

This isn't 2003. I don't have years of my life to spend waiting for a game to get playable again. Being an active subscriber to SE means I'm "happy". They don't care if I have logged in or not when it comes down to it. I decided to vote with my wallet and cancelled my subscription last night. I hope others who are not playing for the same reasons follow suit and let SE know how we really feel :/ I want the game to succeed, but I don't want to be paying to beta test their game.

Some people have mentioned this before. I too personally would like to see visually (and technically) upgraded version of FFXI instead of FFXIV. I spent many years on FFXI, and still enjoying the content. FFXIV means start over to me. Regarding current game play style status of both games, advancing requires a lot of time which I can only spare for FFXI. I enjoy playing FFXI, I have no issues with that, but adding FFXIV into pot will be too much for me.
I was expecting more practical interface and in game interactions, however SE is SE right, another time consuming transactions chain rather than playing and enjoying content. Transfer this, transfer that, look gear to buy, spend hours for what you look for. Sorry, I showed a lot of tolerance in FFXI as I enjoyed its content, but I will not be so patient for another game as I did in FFXI. I want to spare time for other things in my life as well, instead of running long distances just to transfer something between characters. Those minutes add up to hours, to days... which are gone from your life.
The other reason I will not prefer FFXIV over FFXI is, switching to FFXIV would mean throwing away all your hard earned advancements, and all the memories shared with your friends to me.
Regarding FFXIV relase date, it was so obvious that SE wanted to show profits on annual income statement, so they sold pre-ordered beta version, and sorry most of you guys have fall for it. Game was far from complete just a few months before declared release date, I was really surprised. I knew what was coming. Stockholders began to count their money which is stolen from your wallet. Of course this is not your fault, but you need to talk with your wallet again and withdraw your support from this incomplete beta alfa gamma trash, at least until they compensate it with a finished and polished product. Big mmo titles are on the way, SE needs to act really fast to fix what they have done wrong. People now have many alternatives, many upcoming alternatives, and they will not tolerate as they did for FFXI before.

One good thing, FFXIV is playable on Linux and has received a silver rating in wine. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=11717
Thats pretty impressive, it took FFXI years to become playable on wine (and the windower will prob never run on wine, so no plugins for FFXI.) It's pretty likely your going to see a lot of Linux players in FFXIV.

I often think about FFXIV and wonder why they even called this an FF game at all, none of the same job classes, no questing (sans city missions), wtf is a guild leve (go kill XXX of this YYY = WIN?!?!), lack of party dynamic ect ect.....all in all this was a huge fail to me. Sad really, i can truly say i was looking forward to a great game that was i was hoping too much to be like FFXI which it clearly this game isn't... SE just conned all of us into thinking that it was a FF title .... and it's no where close, some stupid point click and zerg *** and even then you don't get proper rewards for your actions..... So far i see this game as a crafting game w/o content towards someone who's actually out to play an MMO and not craft gear for $$$ that's ultimately gonna be worth nothing anyway. I hope SE can see what they have done here and decide to scrap this whole project ....I spent $$ on teh CE thinking since FFXI was soo damn good in my eyes that it would be totally worth it if I was planning to play as long as i did in FFXI (6years ish on/off), I hope SE has people reading all these forums and taking at least some consideration on what the community want them to do with this piece of ***they called Final Fantasy 14 ....
WTF IS A THUMATURGE?? god damn it...??!?!?

And what will you do with the PlayStation FFXI players? The only reason FFXI has never been and will never be updated is that it is forever tied to a dead console based on 10 year old technology.

Well, you do get bonus while in party play which is incentive enough to group, the other day I was soloing island crabs, and was getting roughly 50-90 SP.
Then I got in group with 2 other guys, killed the same mobs and was getting 300-500 SP split btw shield and sword, idk if that's how it's intended to work but I don't solo anymore. People still keeps trying to solo their way trough so I guess it's would explain the complains about the grindfest and mobs not giving enough SP.
I think the biggest grip is that a lot of people has no idea how the party search function works, but I always quickly find a group since I learned to use it, easier to build groups too, I think people got acostumed to the FFXI one that don't want to learn how the FFXIV one works when it's even simpler and easier than FFXI.

Well after playing for about 30 days I can honestly say I'm enjoying the game myself atm..I'm not saying its perfect but saying its not playable is just a blown up exaggeration but ban wagoners will be band wagoners. The not having an AH I've come to realize is the best thing SE did. The market wards just need to be used properly and we need to have a retainer for each ward. The menu lag is annoying I must say. I look forward to the next two updates as it addresses the most of the complaints people had about the game. I'm playing for free ATM I'm hoping SE extends the free play through out December since the updates will be completed by then...so they say...just my input.
