I seriously loved the movie. Anyone know if the comics/graphic novels/whatever they are are worth reading?

I personally liked the books more. The books and the movie have somewhat different endings though. If you like alternate endings I recommend reading the books too. You can easily find them around the internet to download or you can buy them. :P
Awesome, thanks =D

I tend to prefer reading to watching, so I imagine I'll like the books more even if they're not that great.

I like the Scott in the books more too. He isn't as lame as Cera... For me Cera ruined Scott. When you read the books you'll see what I mean.

The fact that "The Expendables" did well where this was a box office flop is the single biggest insult in entertainment this decade.

I'll be getting it on Blu-Ray, have to use the PS3 for something.

"The Expendables" should have stayed in 1991 where it belonged.

I get what they were trying to do, but there was just nothing good or believable about that entire movie.

The ending was laughably stupid too. Let's not even mention that ugly *** survives a gunshot through the aorta, but after trying to kill Jason Statham and Jet Li, they just let him waltz back into "The crew", seriously? *** doesn't even cover that.

I thought it was hilarious Mickey Rourke still had his Whiplash look too, probably explains why he was in the movie all of 12 minutes, probably filmed simultaneous with Iron Man or something.

I'd rather watch mindless explosions and gun fights than watch Scott Pilgrim. Cera plays the same role in every teen angst 'nerd' movie.

I agree. And I think it could have been so much better without Cera douching the movie up.

That's a fair point, and it would have been fine if this was his second, maybe third movie ever. It is tiresome watching him essentially play himself every appearance.

That said, expendables still was a waste of time. Honestly, there weren't even any cool "Explosions" so to say. It was trying to be way too serious. I also couldn't get past that Sgt. Battista (Dexter) was the Colonel, every time he was on Screen I was expecting Michael C. Hall to show up.

I know what you mean, especially about Battista. I can't take him seriously after his character turned into such a wiener on Dexter. I just think most movies they come out with these days are garbage.

Oh god me too.

The thing is I don't blame it on the action genre dying because Die Hard 4.0 was pretty damn good.

No! Same type of actor. I'm sure the exaggerated the heck out of that movie and it was still boring.

Even if you don't like Cera, "Scott Pilgrim" was a clever movie with a great supporting cast.

"The Expendables" was an idea that only seems good in a "Wouldn't it be cool if--" conversation.

I agree, this type of movie with actors like that just pisses me off. Maybe it's latent jealousy that I'm not rich and popular... or maybe it's because I hate angsty teen movies.

social network was exaggerated but i really really enjoyed it. similar type of actor, not character. nerd, yes. cera was never an *** or had any sort of confidence like the guy who played zukerberg(sp?) either way, loved the way the director shot the movie. timberlake was cool too.

Well, what was clever about Pilgrim? And I don't know why you're bringing a 'what if' into it. Clearly Scott Pilgrim is a giant 'What if?' movie.

I liked the art style and direction of the movie but the writing was kinda sub-par, but I expected it seeing as it was directly taken from a medium it works in, comics.

The combination of music, arcade games, nerd humor, Canada jokes, super powers, comic booky action (etc.) all in one movie, was sort of a "what if". But I thought it was pretty cleverly put together and written.

What I meant with "The Expendables" was it seemed like it was just a "Wouldn't it be cool if we got all these dudes in one movie?" idea, that didn't really ever overcome its own concept and turn into a decent film.

it's probably not as bad as you'll think, but I don't understand why it has such a cult following.

Really? You can't see why it has such a cult following? All the "Insider" Gamer references a lone should have made it painfully obvious. And that's only the most apparent and broad cult appeal.

Just for example, the Groups name, how many non-gamers would get that?

I guess. I guess I should be more concise as to what I mean.

I don't understand how it was revered so much within the people who would understand the inside jokes.
