Try finding any other form of entertainment that's that cheap. I thought it was 15 dollars.
I'm fairly certain that it is $12.99 for 30 days.Oh, was there a price change? I thought someone told me that it was 15. Guess they were wrong =P

Either way its lame, would you like your isp to limit you to x amount of time for dl'ing stuff? SE is just doing it to be a douche, nothing else.

I'm sorry 8hrs a week that's being a douche. I can burn up 4hours a night if i want to lvl something, that means i'd have 5 days to do nothing cept cancel my sub and go back to ffxi.

It's not that big of a deal but it's pretty silly. I see a lot of people defending it by saying players should just play another job but why force the player to do so? They've paid for the game and are paying the monthly subscription so why place that limitation?
If I bought Madden and after 8 hours of playing as the Colts I was no longer allowed to make any progress unless I switched teams that would come off as pretty stupid, I don't enjoy other teams, so why force it?
If they want to bridge the gap between hardcore and casual, make the game give rewards accordingly, not just for people who put in ridiculous amounts of time, ie FF11 . If you want to give people initiative to play other jobs then make the jobs appealing and believe in your gameplay, don't place unnecessary limitation. Rule #1 of MMO's; don't give the player a reason to stop playing.
Go ahead and rate down.

someone told me if you partied, this removed fatigue, meaning, if this is true, guess what, stop bitching, its only for soloing. this fatigue system could also be removed before the game comes out in last minute production

Ramuh.Mairah said: I dun get the logic people are having. So you can't level one job 168 hours a week oh noes. If all you do when you play an mmo is exp *** one job non-stop for hours and hours on end, go for it, but there is plenty else to do in the game that you can play more than just 8 hours a week.
But it's my money that im paying to play the game so i want to level whatever i want, whenever i want, however i want!

I don't care to read more than what I respond to right now, etc.. so yeah.. No more than not leveling subjobs in FFXI. You can use some abilities from one class on another, i.e. Conjurer's Cure on Gladiator, or Pugilist's Second Wind (Chakra) on Lancer.
You're more than welcome to play a single class, but even if I did want to, I still would level other classes for the extra abilities.

I don't see what needs to be modified, honestly. There are 17 classes in the data files, speculation is that the additional 10 will be released on retail (Since there are a lot of said classes already ingame, like Musketeer in the Limsa Lominsa intro, and Bard in the Ul'Dah intro), that should be more than enough to last a few years.
No?

I'm not sure I understand what exactly you mean when you say it's a bad system.

Are you talking about the fatigue system?
I think it's blown way out of proportion on nearly any site that speaks of it.
I've played nearly every day for multiple hours since the beta was released, and I haven't hit any sort of exp reduction. Apparently no one has except for Cloudxi (apparently), who was a really fast level-er. Was already way past me last I checked.
tl;dr, I can't imagine the fatigue system being a bad thing in any way. Sure, it would be better without for most people, but with no noticeable adverse effects as of yet, I don't see what the problem is.

I tried to hit surplus during closed beta and open beta.
During closed beta, exp gain was inflated about 400% to better test the game areas and various levequests.
"Edit" I'd hit surplus at around level 12 early in the week, and get fatigued from gathering after about 2 hours and critical failing synths after about 10 levels.
In open beta, under normal exp conditions, even doing all leves every 48h, and you can share leves and we'd do them in a party of 5 (so that's 40 leves every 48h) Followed by mob grinding for 2-3 hours a day and yet we never hit surplus in a week.
Now in a party, the more you do, the more exp you get, so having a lot of melee is useless, since some get no exp. But buffing, curing, debuffing all yield exp (and actually greater amounts if in a party because exp can proc on each person buffed/cured). All in all, our "group" hit class level 20 and rank level 23 without ever reaching surplus.
One thing we did speculate though is that perhaps maintenance reset the timers, which happened twice that week.
There's plenty of time to do other things to, (Got Miner 15 through only 4 levequest... yes levequest break gathering skills, alchemy/weaving/cooking and goldsmithing all level 10, THM 20, Conjurer 14, Pugilist 10)
In all, the game is too easy with a group, you level extremely fast, and levequest difficulties are so terribly scaled, that they are a huge waste of time exp wise, and are only there for gil, reputation and a bit of gear.

I believe (Unrelated to its implementation in any way), there would really be no chance of SE penalizing people who play more often. If you want to keep everyone at around the same level, why not give an exp buff of some sort to lower level players rather than penalizing higher level ones? All I'm saying is even if this fatigue thing did start to create problems at much higher levels, I'm sure SE would fix it before the bulk of people had time to complain about it.
Tl;Dr again: There's no reason to be concerned.

Its all the same. Exp boon or exp penalty...Its all about your relative rank/rate of progression vs. other players. Bad positioning on their part if they spin it as a penalty. They should spin it as an exp boon for non-playtime and they would have less complaining.
From http://www.mcvuk.com/news/40643/FFXIV-to-impose-gameplay-time-limit
Square Enix has revealed that it will be implementing new measures in upcoming MMO Square Enix that are designed to narrow the gap between hardcore players of the genre and more casual players.
Kotaku reports that the game will allow players eight hours of unrestricted play. Once that barrier is passed, however, there will be an incremental decline in the amount of experience points players can earn over the next seven hours.
Once that time’s up, the chance to gain experience is removed. This is then reset after one week. The restriction only applies to one class, however, so players will be free to switch to another character class and level that up instead.
The game’s director Nobuaki Komoto says that the model is deigned to prevent those with less time to dedicate to the game from suffering such a notable disadvantage when compared to gamers with plenty of time to plough into the game.
It’s a curious decision from Square Enix, and one that Komoto admits could be tweaked prior to release.

The MMO genre is synonymous with ‘grinding’ – that is, long play sessions involving repetition of tasks with the sole intention of levelling up. The genre’s dedicated fan base revels in it. Is it wise to implement measures specifically designed to block such usage, particularly when users will be paying monthly to play the game?
