But this reminds me of a certain group of people ganging up on a certain Asuran who later got banned and came back as an anon. And how people treated that Asuran for years on end, although sometimes not undeserved, but very harsh regardless.

French press--it's actually a really simple concept of letting the coffee grinds steep directly in hot water for three minutes, then pressing down on the wire mesh to push all the grinds down and leaving the perfectly brewed coffee at the top. It's so much better than drip, which filters out all the natural oils, making the remaining liquid much more bitter and nasty.

$3 sounds a bit cheap, but as long as it's functional, who cares. Starbucks used to sell $100+ plus ones when I worked there as a shift supervisor. Of course, they were copper plated, and came in intricately designed boxes.
