abuse the range, learn2skillshot, lichbane sucks
If you're farming well in the start, I'd get Catalyst and build it into an RoA ASAP. Otherwise, couple Doran's Rings. Deathcap next. Void staff if they're building resist. Lich bane. Defensive item. Probably GA.
Edit - Zhonya's and whatever cup would be good too. I don't like DFG because I don't like being close enough to use it on Lux.

It gets especially frustrating when the support volunteers to support just tries to play another carry. Which brings me to another thing I love from supports. "I can Lux/Teemo support". I've seen maybe one good Teemo support and maybe two good Lux's.
if I'm on support and no one else is warding I generally stop warding
I love playing support for the champions an I'm not just a ward-***, and I'll flat out tell people that if I'm the only one warding I can't afford it or any items for my build (yes a supports build is important) so basically if people tell a support they need to ward more
they're *** and should be warding as well (my response to "support ward x" is never to place a ward down but to tell them to ward it even if I'm on the way to it)

I always grab lichbane on Lux. Utilizing her passive well increases your damage, and lichbane just compliments that.
Before the argument of wasting the range on her abilities comes up, there is a difference between using your passive effectively, and bum rushing someone to get killed. lol Everytime I read this thread, I laugh a little. Lichbane doesn't suck, but then again I wouldn't always use it. One of those situational items. It's not exactly cost effective if the game isn't going in your favor. >.> And DFG on Lux? <.<;

I personally feel like Lichbane on far range champions isn't a good use of gold, just personally. For people like AP Eve, TF, AP Sion, it's really good since they're always in auto-attack range to use their abilities.
And RoA is a great item, don't hate!
