Which is why yigit gomelek works as a cheap alternative to sha'ir manteel, it's why minstrel's ring is so good, etc.

Well I'll be... So as long as your casting in fast cast to begin with, if you change before it's finished you get the fast cast and the added skill?
Keep in mind you won't get the bonus of reduced recast unless you actually cast in the Fast Cast gear. It doesn't apply for -Spellcasting Time on Minstrel's Ring or Yigit body though. And obviously there are few situations where you need to actually worry about getting your recast as low as possible anyway. Lullaby is the only thing that comes to mind.
Recast isn't what makes me /rage about BRD...
