I would like to see the written proof from SE or someone that has had this problem please. I know that SE isn't always logical, but that seems a bit off the wall to me.
This was an issue within POL where if you deactivated your SE account you could not log in normally as it would require your SE account password even after you erased the information from the POL login settings. I believe it's fixed now.
