I want to root my Samsung S4(T-Mobile) because Samsung rolled out a crappy Jellybean 4.3 TouchWiz edition that features horrendous battery life.
How hard is it to root a phone and install the ROM?

I "feel" the battery life sucks more, maybe it's just in my head b/c I know the 4.3 update was buggy for the S4 on other carriers. I went to the gym, usually battery wouldn't have a dent in it after playing music and running my various social apps. But after it was at 50ish percent.
I didn't know about the AOSP vs TW benchmarks on the S4...interesting. Nevertheless, I think I'm stuck with the 4.3 now until Jan. Samsung rolled out KNOX with 4.3, people on XDA are saying KNOX prevents Samsung devices from being rooted.
I did plug it into the charger when I got home. There are no reports of T-Mobiles S4 OTA update having bugs so maybe I'm just being paranoid.
As far as KNOX rolling out I wasn't aware they were going to include into the bootloader. It was my impression that it was simply bloatware.
I'm half tempted to file a warranty claim, however, at the same time I guess I can wait till Jan for KitKat.

It's a "leaked" image lol So I can just pray I suppose. HTC and Moto both announced that they would have 4.4 on their phones including the HTC DNA by January. So I'd be shocked if Samsung didn't have it on the S4 by Jan.
Exynos wasnt released in US. Samsung would be pissing off a lot of customers.

What do you mean screen on time? Oh that I'm not sure. I usually keep it connected while I'm at home

4.3 definitely cause's your battery to last less time, it's was all over the XNA dev forums. Also from my understanding Knox didn't lock you out of your phone, it just flipped a bit to 1 if it detected the phone can been modified which voided your warranty. I have the Galaxy S4 LTE-A model: SHV-E330S (AKA I9506). Yes it's the unique one amongst the line.

Lots of people really don't have any idea how much hatred is spurn between the two. Especially with the latest story floating around on the net that Samsung paid Apple 1 billion in 5 cent coins.
Well battery life on the 4.3 was a complaint for ATT users in the US. Samsung has stopped the 4.3 release for ATT S4 and S3.

You are right though the AT&T S4 4.3 OTA had a bunch of bugs ranging from WiFi stability to data connections, not just the battery life.
AT&T also released their 4.3 OTA earlier than T-Mobile so, here's hoping T-Mobiles OTA is bug free...(knock on wood)

I don't think it helps that Samsung phones are solid products sold and a fair price-point, whereas Apple sells older technology at much higher price. It's very insulting to HTC, Samsung, Moto and Nexus(Google).

The 5S was still older technology. The A7 processor and new rear camera are great. However, the resolution, front camera and battery-life are still sub-par oh and no NFC. For the price Apple sells the 5s it's like WTF!?!
