Iota Ring Worth It?

Picked up an Omega Ring at my first 15k Ichor and closing in on another 15k...so, is an Iota Ring worth it? If so, when/what situations would you use it in?

Slightly better than your standard 5acc ring for a 2hand tper. Also, good for ws's if you dont have a better ring. It's not a bad ring....but it probably isn't the best ring. I have one, and i never use it. If you're in a LS that does einherjar 2x a week then get it. After all it's just ichor.

I use it for SA/TA WS on my thf but that's about it. I suppose it could be good for TP if you need the accuracy as the 3 dex and 3 acc should be better than the 4 acc of a Ulthalam's Ring, but really I personally just use it combined with my Rajas for WS.

2hander if you don't have a good acc ring.

Depending on how often you play RDM, you could probably pick Aslan Cape or Gleeman's cape; they're both an improvement over prism.

I'd only use it on thf. For like SATA or maybe TA ws

I also only use this on thf. For other DD jobs, I use rajas and an accuracy ring until I finish whitegate missions, then it'll be rajas and ulthalam's for all my melee jobs. It's ok, but there's certainly better rings out there. (In my opinion.)

Iota ring is crap FOR ONE HANDERS, whenever I see someone using it ON A ONE HAND JOB I know they're a bad player.

Iota is certainly not crap for 2-handers. It's about 5.25 acc which is obviously better than blood/woodsman/snipers at least. I got it for WAR long time ago, now I don't even use it. Toreador's/rajas or geeeet the fawk out.

People saying Iota is an automatic NO for 1handers are wrong.

Iota can be either a +4acc or a +5acc ring for 1handers, depending on what it brings your total DEX to. 2DEX=1Acc, and all fractions are dropped. There's no such thing as a "4.5 Acc" ring (that would just round down to 4). However, the DEX+3 on Iota brings your total DEX to an EVEN number, you're getting 5 Acc from Iota as a 1hander.

If it's a 5acc ring for you, Iota is clearly superior to Woodsman/Sniper's (no negative stats), and at least as good as Blood Ring. Plus Iota has the admittedly small benefits from raw AGI (increased evasion) and DEX (increased crit rate).

Another big thing that is often forgotten is that it's VERY rare to find WS modifier stats on an Acc ring. Iota is especially nice for multi-hit WS (which always need Acc) that have stat mods on Iota. For example, Stringing Pummel (32% VIT mod), Blade: Jin or Dancing Edge (30% DEX mod), or Asuran Fists (10% VIT mod, but better than nothing LOL).

Is Iota better for a 1hander than Toreador's, or Sniper's+1? No. Is it better than a normal 5acc ring? It certainly can be.

Well, I only used to put on blitz when I felt my acc was capped (Mainly merits, limbus, dynamis besides on demons etc.). But I dropped g.axe merits for polearm so doubt blitz would be all that useful for my WAR.

I have BLU and I use rajas/iota for TP. Does that make me a bad person? Always got the job done for me. I realize that lava/kusha would be better in that scenario, but I absolutely refuse to camp those stingy turnips (Lamina/Hyak).

You would be better off keeping you Rajas and jsut going to a 7 acc ring. L/K rings aren't as good as Rajas + Acc or haste ring. L/K are only for non-rajas owners

At the OP, as it has been stated, the ring is situationally better than the normal 5 acc rings for all jobs.

* For 2 Handers it will always match or beat a 5 acc ring
* For 1 Handers it will be either ahead or behind a 5 acc ring depending on DEX

7 acc ring or haste ring are better, but that should be obvious.

So blanket statements saying all players that use it are rubbish is simply wrong. But IMO Iota ring would be pretty low on the list for Einhjar items, I would probably get it when I have got all the other items but it certainly wouldn’t be my second choice.

Sadly I agree, 0/6 on Swift. Just waiting 'til the June update for CoP area cap to disappear at this point so I can spend a day spamming it.

The point is - don't go talking about someone else using a not-so-good alternative when you are in the same boat yourself.

Personally I am 0/12 on swift, so my DRK is stuck with Headlong. But I don’t think Airbag was aiming his comment at Headlong users in general, it was just at Kozuki who was making baseless assumptions about players based on a single item, which she had incorrectly assessed the value of.
