The movie commit the ultimate sin: Being boring. A movie that sells itself on sex ended up being nearly an hour on discussion about a contract. I've seen more sexy things on CSPAN.

And from everything I've heard, the movie improves upon the book. At least the contract thing means it's got more consent?

I dunno. I've read a lot of analysis of the book and thereby significant swathes/quotes from the book, and it's just...dirty. Not sexy dirty. Bugs crawling over your skin while you're buried alive dirty.

Yet still, I get the allure of the book to many women, especially the poor ones. Being the sexual plaything of a rich sociopath would be a step up for many of them.

Voters in the village of Drăguşeni, in northeast Romania, can choose from four candidates in this weekend’s mayoral election. Three of whom are called Vasile Cepoi.

One of the Cepois, a member of former prime minister’s Victor Ponta’s Social Democrat Party (PSD), is running for a fourth term as mayor of the village of 2,500 people, the Associated Press reported Friday.

The three Cepois are not related, Viorel Munteanu, a town hall official, was quoted as saying. The first name is common in the country of 19 million, and Cepoi is a popular family name in the region.

But political scientists said this could be a tactic by rival parties to split the vote of the strongest candidate, according to Romanian news channel Digi24.

“I am young, I’m not going to be confused, but there will be problems with older people,” a man from Drăguşeni told Digi24.

There is a similar issue in another village in the same county. The mayor of Zamostea, Vasile Haliuc, a Social Democrat, is running against Vasile Haliuc, a relative who is a member of the rival National Liberal Party.

“We also ran in 2012 together; the citizens know us, they know how to make the difference,” PSD’s Haliuc told Digi24.

Sunday’s local elections are the first since Ponta’s government collapsed last November amid anti-corruption protests. Many candidates in the current race have been accused of corruption or even jailed.

The grim image was plastered on roadside billboards, posters and is featured in the movie's trailer.
Social media has been smoldering over the ads showing such violence to a woman.

The film studio responded to the backlash by saying that they were removing the image from promotional materials.
"In our enthusiasm to show the villainy of the character Apocalypse we didn't immediately recognize the upsetting connotation of this image in print form," Fox said in a statement. "Once we realized how insensitive it was, we quickly took steps to remove those materials. We apologize for our actions and would never condone violence against women."

People took to Twitter to express their outrage over the seemingly sexist image.

One Twitter user wrote: "The appeal of the X-Men poster showing Jennifer Lawrence being choked is that battery can be fun?"
