Pics That Make You Whoa

This is awesome! I'm at work so I didn't have a lot of time to play around with it, but here's my first attempt (I had a Galka RDM in mind while doodling...)

The intent isn't really to get to the scale of the LoL thread, but to have a place for people to post pictures of stuff that amazes them. Or knocks their socks off. Or scares the bejesus out of them. Or something something about improper sentence structure.

So much beauty in this world. I want to see it all :S

The scene was captured from a lakeside campsite under dark skies in northern Maine, USA. In it, the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy arcs above faint airglow along the horizon.

Zodiacal light, a band of dust scattering sunlight along the solar system’s ecliptic plane, stretches almost horizontally across the wide field and intersects the Milky way near a point marked by bright planet Jupiter.

Right of Jupiter, past the Pleiades star cluster, is the brightening of the Zodiacal band known as the Gegenschein, also visible to the eye on that dark night. Begirt with many a blazing star and rising above the distant mountains, Orion the hunter is reflected in the lake’s calm waters.

I would post other things that make me whoa, in a different way. But alas, I would likely be scrutinized from the mods, and I don't want to put a great thread in jeopardy.

But alas, Earth and the heavens have plenty of awe to offer for eons to come~

In pics that make you whoa news... normally everyone is scared of even spiders, so I dare not link anything that makes me say whoa. Just go to google and type in deep sea creatures, and then have a look at the image results. Pretty much all of that makes me say 'whoa' and interested to learn more.

PS: don't actually google that and view the images unless you want to spend an half hour clicking on crazy looking critters.

The dumbo octopus and the blobfish are about as cute as it gets. The rest are horrible nightmare creatures.
