I think you really can't approach roleplay the same way through forum and through chat(regardless of the theme, be it fantasy, erotic, medieval, steampunk, or all of those together).
You can't write an essay for every turn when you do it via chat, it has to be quick, back and forth. It requires a bit of improvisation but that's point of chat roleplay, the real time interaction.
And don't get me started on people who are self-conclusive. Goddamn I hate that. You're not here playing by yourself, don't decide my reactions for me..

soy sauce orange juice ginger marinade. thread shark, onion, cherry tomato, pineapple, and then keep going. brush on some extra marinade. throw over coals for 7 1/2 minutes. flip brush with marinade again. let cook for another 7 1/2 - 10 minutes till desired doneness.

i thought it would be interesting to level a lowbie job through and role play the whole thing. i started a play through of skyrim when i got my new laptop. maxed everything out, but also decided to not use anything that broke game or any fast travel other than carriages. was pretty fun so i thought ffiv would be fun to do something similar. haven't rp'd anything yet, just getting used to the game again.

Right now Balmung is suffering from a lot of Miqo'te and Au Ra female characters and being poor-quality MERP. Speaking from my own personal observations, but the community is currently overrun and needs more male characters for normal RP'ing, as females are seemingly all over the place. But in all honesty, that's not what I'm talking about.
The truth is, every day when I go into the Quicksand on Balmung, I see 5 things.
1.) Scantily clad female characters
2.) People RP'ing in /tells and they never respond to walkups
3.) People claiming that walkup RP's are loved, but they never respond even though they clearly look at your character.
4.) Ugly man cats.
5.) Au Ra males with sonic the hedgehog hair
