http://www.ffxiah.com/mbox

Simple:
http://www.ffxiah.com/mbox-s

It's interface is inspired by GMail, so Gmail users will be familiar with it. It's something I always wanted to do so I hope you like it. I will just list out some features.

  • Conversations

  • BBCode enabled

  • Auto-Completion of recipient

  • Usernames/Characters have a separate message box. (no I can't combine them or forward). I did this to make the backend design simpler and other reasons that I can't yet articulate.

  • Automatic updating, w/manual refresh

  • Does not mark spam automatically :)

  • Static version available

  • Check all button!

I attempted to automatically put your existing messages in conversations based on the subject line and the recipient.

I tested it in Chrome,FireFox,IE8,IE7,Safari, and Opera. From the ones I tested, Opera gave me some problems and Chrome performed the best. I am pretty sure IE6 doesn't work.

I made a simple or "static" version in case the main one doesn't work for you. I put static in quotes because it still uses Javascript but it doesn't use AJAX. I apologize for any bugs you may experience. If you get one you can let me know and I will try to address it.

Keep in mind PM buttons throughout the site won't work until I adapt them.

Yeah...that did make it a whole lot easier. And now I can copy and paste from messages. Not sure if it was just me, but wasn't able to before. Great job there, mang.

*and now after toying with it and looking through everything*

Holy ***this is cool. This makes keeping track of ongoing conversations and remembering what the hell the current topic is so much easier with the PM chains all being laid out at once. Bless you, Scraggles.

Hey, Scragg, just a few questions: how do the Sentbox and Outbox work now for unread messages? I sent 2 recently, with 1 sitting in my Inbox tab while another is in my Sent tab. Also, were messages previously marked as "Saved" under the old system moved somewhere?

If you are replying to a conversation it will just update the conversation where ever it is. (inbox, archive, etc). If you send a msg without replying to an existing conversation, it will go in the sent folder and stay there until they reply. There is no outbox anymore.

Messages that were marked as saved and even deleted will be moved back to the inbox. I didn't attempt to auto organize because I auto grouped messages together as conversations. All messages are inside a conversation object and only the conversations can be moved to different folders.

One minor bug:
When I archive a message, the view switches to the archive automatically. At the same time it doesn't change the 'active button' above it. I have to click one of the other buttons before I can switch back to inbox.

Did that make sense?

Edit: I was able to replicate the bug just now when I archived another conversation.

Edit2:
When I click inbox on the right, the screen I am on shows just the message boxes (to send a message). Inbox button does not work there. Once again I have to choose another folder and then click inbox.

Using firefox.

Seems to be a problem with conversations... only can see the first few of a conversation so if you have like 400 PM long one well then you can't see like the last 380 lol

Are you getting either of the two errors I mentioned in my previous post?

Your first bug should be corrected. As for your Edit2, does this happen all the time? What version of firefox are you running?

I do have the same problem as Krizz's 2nd edit. Version 3.5.5 Firefox.

It doesn't automatically bring you to your inbox, have to refresh 2-3 times and maybe it'll show up
3.5.3 here.

Just now when I clicked on inbox, it worked. I tried it again and it didn't work.

Edit: First problem is indeed fixed. I tested it out. It shouldn't automatically switch to archive view anymore, right?

Does the url remain the same "http://www.ffxiah.com/mbox/" or did the hash appear? (#xx-xxx)

Slow load at first, but it worked this time. Seems to be random.

http://www.ffxiah.com/mbox/#14343-100395 was the URL that just came up. I'll try to remember to snag it if it's different next time it fails.

Edit: Same URL on failure.
