My nin is sitting at 58 and I'm doing AF quests now.

I know Tping in hauby is terrible on nin if you're tanking. Hauby is only a WS piece for ninja.
I was thinking that since nin WS are meh anyway, is there that much benefit to getting a hauby?

Am I right in this thinking or am I missing something?

Since there are times when NIN just can't quite hold hate, hauby (and a full dd tping set) when I lvl'd nin i would throw my enfeebles and voke and when voke was down and I lost hate i'd macro the DD set, i'd often get hate right back. And if you want to do that or not, hauby WS'ing isn't just for faster xping it's great for hate. since dd's only get hate off you by hitting so hard themselves, doing some decent DD of your own will help your hate a lot. (I'd always open a fight with a DD set WS)

Edit: Also hauby's are so cheap now-a-days it's not gonna kill you to get on likely.

NIN can tank just fine wearing a Haub, since you're only tanking in EXP parties, plus -20 Evasion isn't even that much of a difference. On EXP mobs.

If you're paranoid about the evasion TP in a SH and macro in a Hauby for WS. Though I will admit with a SH I hardly seen any difference between my evasion compared to a HQ Hauby.

What everyone else said.

No one should ever be concerned about their EVA in a normal party situation.

Haubergeon for TP and WS, and Ninja Chainmail if your ACC is capped.

Pretty much TP/WS in Hauby, TP in Ninja chainmail if not fighting Birds, otherwise you will be losing your food every fight.

Have an EVA set for recasting.

with haste and/or march from bard, and elegy and/or slow nin can fulltime DD set and still overlap 7shadows. i did it that way, and just macro'd in eva set on the ~5secs i had to wait for recast if i had to wait at all. depending on the mob of course. dont wanna do that to monk type mobs or mandys >o. but birds generally die too fast to worry about eva anyways.

i just used SH emp pin and okotes to TP in while llving NIN. Honestly your gear is situational. If you have a PT thats blowing through mobs then by all means TP in hauby, more damage and cuts down on gear change, if your PT is so-so then TP in SH. For me it honestly made a difference BUT i had evasion capped and merited when I lvled NIN so it probably wont be the same for you. Definitely get a hauby though, they are very cheap anymore and once you get Jin it is a must EQ piece for that WS.

I actually had a very similar question when I was levelling NIN.

Personally, I found it much better to TP in Haub and have SH only for recasts (as is the overall opinion from the looks of it).

I also have a full Eva+ set that I have on macro so I can quickly get Eva gear on if ***hits the fan ^^
