Heya.

Has anyone else been experiencing regular zero packets received?

I'm UK based.

It started for me around 8 hours ago, I went to bed and the issue is still there.

Struggling to even log a player in, and when I did log him in, multiple R0's per minute but no full disconnects.

I've done the standard pc restart, router restarts etc.

My internet is working perfect for everything that isn't FFXI.

Just tryin to work out if maybe the EU servers are having an issue.

FFXI just isn't playable like this at the moment.

I was getting this in the last couple Odyssey I did. Someone else said they were getting tremendous lag in there as well. I have very good internet too.

Yeah, here in the UK lag is a guarantee in places like Odyssey and Dyna D.

This is a bit different, getting R0 everywhere, and it happens on average around every 10 seconds.

You may be getting the standard lag from Odyssey, receiving way too many packets from the server, keep an eye on the top right corner of your screen on the R number, if that number goes really high, you'll experience lag.

UK, no problems.

Probably ISP related, and will sort itself out in a few days.

Kruel, are you on Virgin Media?
Been having similar issues here, and there's reports over on Reddit of a bunch of people having issues with Destiny 2 at the same time. Definitely think something's changed with their setup as it's causing issues on some games but not others.

Yeah i'm on Virgin Media.

Was deep into empyrean farming so been itching to get back on lol.

But if I can confirm it's the ISP, I can settle and go do something else for a bit.

Thanks for the replies.

Just as a little more info, the issue is so bad I tried to update ffxi on my backup pc, wanted to make sure it wasn't something wrong with my main pc, couldn't even get past the first patch.txt file download on multiple tries, kept hanging.

I've found a temporary solution.

Running FFXI with my VPN fixes the issue.

Having had the same issues with Virgin Media today I wanna say thanks for this fix - oddly enough sending my signal halfway round the world worked :P

Annoyingly enough, Virgin have come back saying it's an issue on the developer's end, not theirs. Of course it couldn't be their fault.

Here's hoping their lack of culpability doesn't extend to actually avoiding fixing the problem.

I don't care if they don't wanna hold their hands up, as long as they fix it.

They never accept responsibility and always pass the buck, when you swap ISP you never get it again though. Weird how that works.

It could also be other factors. My connection issues didn't start until I upgraded to Windows 11. Windows 10 had 0 issues and the only time I got lag was Mireu.

I can't see it being any other factors for me, i've stayed on windows 10 for now, haven't liked the conjecture about windows 11's gaming performance at the moment.

As for when the issue started, I was on something like hour 10 of an FFXI marathon session, game was running perfect throughout.

I made zero changes, or updates to windows, antivirus, or anything on my pc, but this issue just started out of the blue while I was in game.

(Other than this issue, I really can't complain about virgin broadband, been at this address with it for 2 years now, and can count on one hand how many unexplained ffxi dc's i've had).

If you have access to a vpn i'd recommend using that for now.

I've been online for 5 hours now with my vpn and it stops the issue.

Have tried since 2pm today on and off with VPNs and still getting intermittent R0's along with the occasional disconnection. Like others, nothing has changed at my side to explain this. I'm hoping it doesn't persist cos it's making almost all content unbearable.

I'm also on Virgin and was getting this since last night. Was extremely annoying and just assumed my ISP was messing up. Woke up to other UK friends on Virgin Media having the same issue this morning. So I Ended up just USB tethering my phone up to my PC and just using my phone data.
