Does SE work in the middle ages? You don't need people coming into work to support on live-chat and telephones.
Sounds more like the contact center manager wanted any excuse to not come to work. They just don't want to pay employees, pretty straight forward excuse to say *** you guys without having to reap consequences.

Doing what they're "allowed" to do, is nothing. They don't even release you when you get legitimately stuck anymore. Offline
i once got stuck a while ago and a GM helped me get free. maybe with the rise of tako users they figured most can help themselfs.
tako users calling GMs to get free reminds me of that tea scene from alien covenant for some reason. |
