What does the idea of an AH merge have to do with 12 man content?
Because the cross-server AH is not the main problem.
Main problem is
Player Log-In talk with the first best friend + second best friend. Clean 90% of the content then call the night repeat the next 3 years. On the paper this look fantastic on a game with small community sadly on the "practice" is exactly the reason for the game is dying.
You dont have the necesity to create groups, to find new members on your LS, to coexist with people on your server. FFXI is suffering exactly the same problems as FFXIV or Modern-WoW the game feels like "Single person game".
1.- Player "X return to the game"
2.- He tries to do content like odin, omen etc.
3.- People already have their 2-3 man groups and never will invite a new pug player
4.- Player A leaves the game saying "Oh this game is ***"
5.- Player B like Lord-Vyze put the credit card to buy 500M of gil then start to mercenary odin stuff, lilith stuff, omen stuff, dynamis wins etc.
6.-. Player B find a END-GAME-LS after he bought like lord-vyze all the items with "RL-MONEY"
This is the sad reality of FFXI 99% of the shouts RMT-Stuff. Sorry but this cannot be happening at least 50% should be to people playing the content.
Sadly sounds like the issue is not having enough friends. Game feels like a single player game to people because people don’t know how to work together as a team ( ego issues) and newer players skip content to catch up to whatever people are doing in their social shells. Happens way to often that people are skipping content to do whatever everyone else is doing but simply can’t join because their lacking gear from content prior. As a result they feel like they can’t get into a group and they quit.
These players skip this content and this is why rmt and mercs are so popular.
Merging AH would be a huge help to the people that actually play the game on any size server. I don’t see a need to ever swap servers besides looking for certain items.
