This is probably what they are working towards in my opinion. With no real team it makes sense to remove pieces of it at a time, especially the ones no one uses.
Or it makes more sense that they're removing security risks instead of patching them on systems that few/nobody uses. It's why they migrated payment off POL years ago.
I don't think most people understand how ingrained XI is to POL.
Theres no "security risk" in the *** POL email thats just what they tell stupid people to give them a reason to delete it. There could be literally zero security. There's nothing at risk, it's email.
They haven't even used it, more than once, ever. I remember getting an email on it from them, one time in the entire 20 years this ***has been up and running. (I think they may have used that email to tell me why I got banned the first time, but I'll never know because i couldn't access the thing after being banned, so, whoop!)

I remember way back when I first registered, I was able to change that dumbass prefix to something actually good. I am unsure if they axed that ability during the SE Account migration.
I changed the prefix and used the email for quite some time. It used to be useful at some point.
My guess is they can still edit the "pages" of the playonline navigation. Perhaps with this change they will move the FFXI page to the playonline "top page" so right after you login you can hit play.

wow dude, i mean its super slow and has too many extra pages you have to flip thru each time, i can give you that.
but lets be honest, nothing gives you that nostalgia rush than booting up the playonline viewer and get welcomed by that catchy background tune for the first time in months/years.
Remember when you could temp log out and people could knock on your door and you would get a message.

PO is the most annoying ***ever
it is quite a bit annoying, especially at times when the client isn't perfectly stable. i imagine it gets progressively more annoying the more multiboxes one runs.
