Because it's running 4k native. Did 60 FPS 4k native on Forza 7, so they claim of the Xbox One X doing it. Water cooled CPU, 12gb Ram.

About 5 minutes away from Bethesda, don't ask me why they are going so late.

Guilty Gear Xrd being my favorite fighting game this generation, I'm glad Arcsys is finally going mainstream.

Guilty Gear is a painfully underrated series. They're the best 2-D fighters out there, imo.

As odd as Bethesda's briefing was, I am still shaking my head at Microsoft, releasing such an expensive console in the middle of their generation doesn't make a lot of sense. If you are playing Halo 5 today, why would you pay 500 bucks to play Halo 5 in November. If you are that obsessed about performance, you are probably already on a PC.

And where were the games? When you start by saying you are going to show 42 games, and half of them aren't exclusives, you would at least expect some really big reveals. Crackdown 3 looks pretty average, I don't think people are going to buy your new console for that game. Sea of Thieves (still no release date) looks like a PC game. Metro looks like it has potential, and Anthem, while it looks good, its Bioware. They can make anything look good, but lets remember they are in a 3 game slump now. Ori looks very pretty, but none of these games were particularly exciting, and none of them looked like they were going to bring home GOTY, certainly not the ones coming out this year.

Ubisoft is coming up in a few hours then Sony tonight. Look forward to one of those.

The fact that they had absolutely nothing to show means the games (Metroid & Pokemon) are in early, early conceptual development. We saw more of Final Fantasy Versus XIII (the game that would go on to become FFXV) 10 years in advance and it was at a further stage in development than either of these titles are. I think it's utterly irresponsible and downright deceiving to make game announcements so early in the development cycle, and Super Metroid is probably my favorite game of all time.

Difference is, however, that Nintendo has the resources to actually make these games within a year, so it's very possible to see these games come out before the next E3.

I don't think its irresponsible to flash a teaser up there, thats essentially what Sony did last year with Death Stranding, and the fact that we didn't even see it this year hasn't devalued the potential of that game. I think Metroid Prime 4 will be out before Death Stranding. At worst you are looking at 2019.

Metroid is definately a 2018 E3 game as I assume Animal Crossing will be their 'cutesy' all-ages game as the other leg of their schedule.

As for release date, it will depend on progress, but I don't see why it can't be the other major release for them in 2018.

I think 2019 is a best case scenario. How much effort could it have possibly taken to throw some of your assets together for a 15 second teaser? No, they didn't do that because they're not even that far along, which indicates the game is still at the conceptual design level. They're still deciding what it even is and what it's going to look like, beyond "It's Metroid"

I agree that Death Stranding is likely further off, but it's also an open world game with very high production values (at least compared to most Nintendo games). And yet it still got a teaser trailer with a fairly strong sense of direction and identity, which to me indicates that it was further along in development when revealed than MP4 is.

Nintendo comes out, says essentially "We are making a Metroid Prime game" without anything to show, and people get excited for it. What's disappointing to me, personally, is that I would have hoped that they had been developing one for years now instead of just starting on it. As a reminder, Breath of the Wild was first shown off E3 2014 and it was fully playable.

I'm not saying 2018 is impossible but boy are you setting yourself up for disappointment

Even 2 years away isn't a big deal for an E3 game, I mean there are plenty of games that appeared this year that were revealed 2+ years ago and still aren't out and aren't even close to coming out. Nintendo doesn't really make complex games, a 2018 release is more than doable. I think you are overreacting, tbh.

Thats one of the top 3 reveals for this year, Shadows was an outstanding PS2 game, but it had some technical issues. Now a full scale remake that should fix all of those issues? This is a game that could easily get a 95+ Metascore.
